New Car Day! Black 2014 Mustang GT Track Pack!

I haven't heard/seen anything about the next Mustang other than photo's but let's not dismiss the turbo'd 4 pot, 300 hp is VERY easy in that car and if the Ecoboost V6 fits in the new car, well, 400 hp is easy there too, noone said the V8 is going away in the Stang. The SVO (84-86) wasn't sucessful due to the engine not being so good and the fact that the "Merican attitude" was still in effect, trust me, many knuckle draggers didn't get but they're dying off like dinasours anyways, this is the future, let's embrace it! My buddy said Livernois Engineering back home in Dearborn MI has a 12 second Flex running around, so the power is there and the tuners are ready!

[RANT!]Not dismissing the power of smaller dispacement, FI'd motors! Lot's of high HP potential in these cars - take the S2000's 2.2L, for example. You can wring 400+ reliable HP out of those all day long. I just don't want US manufacturers to lose the heritage of the big iron, so to speak. Look at Europe - when's the last time you saw a new Ferarri or Lmbgni with a manual tranny? It's been quite some time, and even though the reason stems from performance, there's soemthing that will be forever lost if our cars become completely goverened by their ECUs (however tweakable).[/RANT!]

I'm not dismissing the Ecoboost at all. Lots of potential and a great motor, even though the ones in the F150 are starting to have some issues now.

All the power they have is great, but they'll never be able recreate that raw V8 sound from a TT V6. Give me the TT 5.0 from the Cobra Jet Concept from SEMA and then we'll be talking.

Very nice! Just FYI I have a 2013 and the paint is really soft

i love the recaro seats, nice ride but i still cant believe you compared it to a s2000 lol

So I've just been lurking here for a while trying to build my knowledge before I really start investing in a product arsenal and doing any advanced detailing, but I felt like I had to post in this thread due to the similarity of our cars:

Mine's almost the exact same as yours but a model year earlier -- Black on Black 2013 GT Premium with Track Pack and Recaro seats.

It's my DD and being in PA I've got the winter wheels & tires on at the moment, so it's a little tough to warrant any serious detailing when there's salt on the road almost every other day.

I've been having a blast with mine since I got it in early October though, and I'm sure you will too. The winter weather, while messy, provides a good opportunity for some parking lot hooning, and it doesn't get any easier with an LSD and 420HP.

Got any planned mods for yours yet? I'm trying to resist catching that bug, but I already had an exhaust ordered before I even got the car...

I've been driving that S2K for 2 years - and before that a couple high hp MR2s. I'm telling you this new GT (with this suspension) drives so much smaller than it is. It feels weightless in the corners and a straight line/braking. Very balanced car. It is not the Ford that you and I grew up around. I've been an import guy from day one and loved tearing older GTs new ones with my other cars, but those days are over. I'll always love the S2K, but this one's got my heart now. The GT is in no way a step down or backwards. People are getting 460 hp to the rear wheels with a simple intake and tune. There's so much streetable potential in these cars it's unreal.

Rmagnus, JohnnyB, Coachhoach:

Good looking out on the paint hardness - been reading reviews saying its about medium hardness. What products are you guys using on your Ponies? This soft paint talk has me gettin' anxious!

My mod list consisted of:

Whiteline: UCA, LCAs and relo brackets, and Panhard Bar/PB Mount
Steeda Sport Srings/Koni Str.t
MGW Shifter
RTR wheels 275/40/19 square setup
Boss Quad H
Roush Axleback

This was before I drove this. I'm not even worried about mods right now, but am considering exhaust - the sound of the car right at cold startup is amazing haha. I've heard the Boss Quad and it adds a touch more volume and some nice burble and depth. Coachhoach, which exhaust did you go with?

As far as buying an older one, well haha; you know how fast these depreciate. If you want one, wait and get the one you really want. I'll be upside down in this one for the first 12-24 months, but that's ok; I'm all about the long view. Don't waste your money!

I got the (pre-2013) Shelby GT500 exhaust. It's a direct bolt-on setup (as opposed to the 2013 GT500 which requires a whole new rear valence) and ran about $300 shipped. You'll find the Boss exhaust to cost quite a pretty penny.

I love the sound -- it's still quiet at warm idle, but you can easily tell the difference on a cold startup. Below 2.5-3k rpm it's relatively tame and has a nice rumble, but above that it really comes alive. It's easy to live with day-to-day, and you can still hold a conversation comfortably with your passenger, but it's got a lot more attitude now. Plus, it's an inexpensive Ford part and was easy as pie to put on -- highly recommended. Part number is M-5230-MGTCA1. If you're interested in a much more aggressive-sounding / attention-getting exhaust, I've heard good things about the Roush axleback too.

Ha! Lots of the guys at the Mustang forums are raving about the GT500 parts - thanks for the parts numbers. Your description sounds enticing.

@Hoyt66 - thanks, man!

Thanks, guys!

@inya - Amazing Shelby

@dps - thanks, man! Dig those SVE wheels!

I 100% agree with you on the V8/Stick combo. Until I bought my '09 Bullitt, I hadn't owned a car with a V8 in 20+ years. Small displacement imports were my thing. Until I drove a Mustang, that is. Yes, it's big but the power more than makes up for it. It's nice to have that power on tap anytime you need it.

Mine isn't modded much at this point but I did swap out mufflers to the KR500 axlebacks. I want to get new springs, Koni Sports and 18X10 wheels (square) and at some point a Roush TVS blower.

I just got a black Camaro SS, cruising around forums to see other peoples cars that are also black. The only other black vehicle i owned was a brand new busa. I swore to myself I would never own another black vehicle again. Damn if I didn't break that promise to myself.
