Thought I would share this as it was just an awesome event.

So for spring break I went up to Atlanta to visit my Dad and his side of the family. My sister's fiance is an old country lady, lots of fun and very blunt to say the least. So we were talking about my hobbies and I tell her car detailing. She was interested in it as not too many kids can give an in deph explanation on polishing, etc.. I told her about this tough spot on my seat that my sister spilled some mystery combination of stuff onto the seat and the stain wouldnt come off.

She said hun, lemme take a look at it. She did, then drove off. Im like well it upsets me to, but damn. TO my relief she comes back with lemon ammonia. She gets a measuring cup, measures a cup of it, throws it in some hot tap water, and with a few scrubs, it was completely removed!!!!

So lemon ammonia with water!

1 cup to one gallon ratio!

Its the best damn cleaning solution I have used yet.

Ive used ammonia and water many times to clean car upholstry, and to me it works the best . Its fast, and doesent leave any resedue in the fabric or carpet .The only problem with it is the smell , although when it dries it removes all oders.

Thank you i will try that one on work truck carpets and seats:cheers:

oh yeah.....ammonia is some bad a$$ stuff. If it can clean jewelry, floors, and toilets, it can certainly clean upholstry. Just have to let it air out and dry before using. Talk about clearing out the sinuses!! Just don't mix it with bleach........it makes a toxic gas!

Doesn't the lemon hide the ammonia smell?

Dow Bathroom cleaner with scrubbing bubbles is great for interiors too

Bew careful with products like these. They clean well because they are very strong. You can remove stains with a blowtorch, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You should always use common sense and do a test spot with any cleaner, but I have never had an issue (in 15 years) with Dow Bathroom cleaner with scrubbing bubbles on anything.

I dont know about Dow cleaner but I remember people useing it on vinyl. But ammonia and water workes . I wouldnt use it on leather , but on carpets, fabric and vinyl it workes great. You dunk a towel in the solution and wring it out and wipe the fabric, and follow with a dry towel. You would be amazed on how well it cleans. A pro couldnt use it because of all the cars he would do , he would be exposed to much to the ammonia. One of the most popular fabric cleaners here is Folex. Open up a new bottle and take a sniff, and you will get a wiff of ammonia.

That is why I guess she used the lemon ammonia. Didnt really have a strong scent to it.

Oh yes - it is so dangerous to try out new products with out testing on any expensive things. I did that once with the carpet tiles in our living room - my wife wanted to kill me ...

Dri Wash n Guard Green is a excellent carpet cleaning product! IMO it is as good or better than Folex!

It s a good trick , thanx for sharing , will give it a try on my car s carpet .

WHOA! Really, "The BEST!?" That's awesome if so, many upholstery cleaners are $40+ a gallon... this would last forever for a few dollars at a time.

Ammonia won't cause colors to bleed, fade, or lighten at all? I'd feel so paranoid using ammonia and water in my extractor on a $80,000 Porsche Cayenne, yikes!

Subscribed for more info :) Thanks

This is really interesting... all I've really ever heard rave reviews about over time is Folex, time and time again. But, I've yet to actually try it. What have you found about Dri Wash N Guard that is better? Once my current gallons of my product are gone, I'd love to try something new :)

Any specific Lemon-Ammonia Cleaner you folks recommend?
Thanks.
