Got a new grill surround today.

This is what the old one looks like:

Looking closer the finish is messed up:

Replacement wasn't too easy. 12 year old clips hold the hold thing in and were hard to unclip without breaking the whole mounting. Luckily, I was able to get it apart without breaking anything.

One of the self locking clips would not come out, and of course you can't reach it. So I ended up taking out the right side headlight assembly so I could get at it.

I also figured I'd polish the headlights, they had some faint scratches:

This "extra tabs" weren't on the original grill:

Of course, the tabs meant the grill wouldn't sit right on the vehicle. Which made me have to do this whole job 2x. The tabs had to come off and be filed down.

This is the whole assemble. I cleaned it, clayed it, hand polished it with Optimum Finish Polish, and OptiCoated it:

Corrected the headlights as well with Optimum polishes. OptiCoated them as well:

Nice! Very tasteful! My chrome surround is starting to annoy me as well. I can't make my mind up on which direction to go with my trim.

Looks pretty good!!!

Side note: You have an extremely easy type of light to hid projector retrofit. That would totally set off the front of your truck and give you superior light to boot!

PM me with questions.

I was really expecting to see some steaks being cooked on a nice shiny new grill...

Car looks good, definitely better now than before with the older chrome piece.

Is there a matching piece for the middle?

I'm already ahead of you. I'm wondering as well if someone makes black Nissan emblems. I thought of trying to "black it out" myself for about a minute, but I can't imagine whatever I do would be very durable.

Someone has to make them, right?
