Brand new to this stuff....just bought a flex 3401 and a bunch of other products....now that I spent time reading I think I may have screwed up and should of bought the GG unit....can I mess up my paint with the flex since I am basically clueless....help ,Feed back please

Welcome to the forum!

Down the road you would've wished you got the Flex 3401 over the GG6. Its a smart move. I sold my GG6 and got Rupes 15 + Rupes Mini. Recently I purchased Flex 3401.

You have a good start. What are you polishing?

I disagree, I am an "on the side" detailer and I bought the GG6. Yes I would like to ALSO have a Flex but I do not by any means NEED one. I think the GG6 is the best for the money. Home detailers who dont have alot of extra spending cash dont go out and buy a flex cause all the pros have them. If your comp/polishing 3 or more cars a week then I could see the argument. For your own car and a couple buddies/family I say no.

Master your flex and make some money! You already bought it why not?

welcome.. what part of NY. ?
I love my flex

I love my flex

Southern Tier.....Owego, NY......about 30 minutes West of Binghamton on 17......Very Rural area......Love it here except the 13 months of Winter....:nomore:

You can mess up your paint with a Griot`s to be honest. If I were you, buy a cheap junkyard panel to learn the machine before you put it on your car. The Flex is an amazing machine. I use it daily.

If you have any questions, this is a great forum.

Thanks for the great Welcome guys. Much appreciated. Being a hardcore Chevy man I have decided to practice on the first Mustang that comes my way....:hungry: for a Ford !

Welcome to your next addiction ........... we're all addicts. :dblthumb2:

Welcome! I'm from NY as well, towards Utica. Definitely happy winter is finally over. I too own a flex and just about every other polisher including the griots. The flex may require more learning and technique starting out but assuming you use it regularly you will perfect your technique and be able to tackle anything. Starting out I can tell you to make sure you keep your pad flat, it's hard to practice when the buffer wants to walk away from you! Good luck!

I may have to come "help" you with all those cool cars! Im near Rochester but to get my GG6 on one of those cars I would take the drive!!!!

I am overwelmed with all of the polish , sealant, wax pad sizes and colors etc....after a good suds hand wash or power wash how do
I begin ? Most of my cars and trucks have decent paint right now in my eyes with the exception on the Jeep Rubicon, it's my daily ride, stays outside 365 ..do I start with a correct step and proceed of ? What color pad for what product ? I purchased my flex with the Wolfgang kit, if you will as an example....sorry for being ignorant but the more I read the more I become lost in the maze of information and data...maybe a good book that outlines this addition for dummies.....any advise is appreciated.

Don, I'm not afraid to meet new people....but my cars are touchy about who lays hands on them...ha ha....your welcome to check out my stable anytime man...

If I were closer we could set up some time and I would bring all my polish/compounds/AIO's for you to try. If you're up for a road trip with one car or another by all means LMK Id let you use my garage and you can experiment all day. Totally understand about whose hands touch your cars!

I'm up for a road trip Don.....PM me if you are serious and you have some free time. I'll get lunch and the adult beverages required to complete the task at hand...:props:

If you like the Genesee products I work there and have PLENTY here for ya. But feel free to bring what you like. I myself am a Dew man so Id be good there. I am serious and will PM ya!

Welcome!! You started out with a great machine.

For polishing if you use Lake Country, I would go with the Hybrid pads. You can get away with three colors: orange, white, and black.

You can read this thread on using this with Menzena/Wolfgang polishes but concepts apply to others. Polishing is like any craft some figure it out quickly and some take longer to understand. The usual issue is what do you do next if something does not work as expected - change pad, change polish, modify technique, etc. This is where experience comes in.
