About 3 months ago i purchased a 2013 F-150 FX2 that i absolutely love. I have always kept my vehicles clean but this truck i have become OCD about and detailing and protecting my investment is just as important as keeping it clean.

The reason im typing this is to tell you what i do as far as detailing goes NOW and you give me your opinion on if i should do something else or try something else.

WHAT I DO NOW
Opitmum Power Cleaner - On Wheels and Tires
Durgloss Wash #902 - On Paint, Trim and Windows
Duragloss Wax As You Dry #952 - On Paint, Trim and Windows
303 Products - On Trim and Tires
RainX Window Cleaner on all windows

If while driving it, a bird craps on it or it just gets bugs or dust on it i follow up with

Opitmum No Rinse - Diluted 3oz to 29oz of water in a spray bottle. Spray and wipe clean. And follow that with
Finish Kare Quick Detailer - It leaves a great shine.

QUESTION

I am about to order some wax for it to get a nice base on the truck but cant decide what to get. I had the Duragloss #105 and Duragloss #601 in my shopping cart but i called a friend that informed me of all the products that i listed above and he advised me that he finds that the Opitmum Spray Car Wax(OSCW) does a much better job than the DG #015 & #601. So with that being said do i just apply just the OSCW and be done with it or should i do the DG #105 & #601 then OSCW or should i do it in a different order?

Im all about the easier the better so if i can get away with just useing the OSCW that would be great, im assuming that DG #902 Wash and DG #952 Wax As You Dry will apply a small amount of wax each time i wash to maintain a wax on the truck right?

HERES WHAT IM THINKING
*Wash with DG #902
*Iron X Treatment On Paint and Wheels
*Wash with DG #902
*Dry with DG #952
*Wax with DG #105 & 601 then OSCW or whatever yall say to do based on the questions above
*Wheel Wax on Wheels
*303 Products on trim and tires
*RainX Window Cleaner on all windows

Sorry my first post is so long.

Dump the Rain X and use something like Blackfire Polyseal or Crystal Seal. Opitimum spray wax is very easy and looks great. I don't let me truck, car or wifes DD go to far between touch ups, so I would imagine if you do it once a month you'll be gtood to go

Anybody else have a comment on the waxing questions I listed above?

For some reason im not able to edit my first post so ill add it here.

I plan to do a Nanoskin treatment after the Iron X.

Also i been reading about the DG #111. Do i need this with applying the 105 and 601? As i said im new to all this and dont really understand the need or why to do certain things. Cleaners, Abrasives, Sealants,....

Keep the DG Wash, add Chemical Guys Blacklight as pre-wax step, then top with Collinite 845.

Anybody else have opinions about what i posted above?

Just to chime in...

The reason to use any type of abrasive polish is to do correction work, for example to remove swirls and scratches.

Using a fine cut polish is also a great way to get paint that is in pretty good shape REALLY clean, and I mean clean down to a fresh base. Plus it will remove fine swirl and scratches at the same time.

This last Saturday, I had a customer with a 2012 Mercedes-Benz 350 that I inspected personally in full sun and there were no swirls or scratches to speak of.

The "Baggie Test" did reveal some light contamination. So I clayed the entire car and then machine applied Wolfgang Finishing Glaze and the machine applied Wolfgang Fuzion.

Even though the paint appeared to be in excellent condition according to the 12 Categories of Paint Condition on page 37 of my how-to book, it's a good idea to do at least one polishing step after ANY type of mechanical decontaminating of the paint.

Plus, by machine polishing with a fine cut polish I also removed any previously applied wax or sealant that claying didn't remove PLUS removed any staining or embedded dirt that our eyes cannot see but I proved takes place in this thread.

Dirty paint

So by all means, if after inspecting your car's paint finish if you see any type of swirls or scratches, or if you do the baggie test and feel little bumps on the paint, go ahead and use a dedicated product to polish and clean the paint down to a fresh base and then apply your favorite LSP.
