*NEW* Lake Country THIN Wool Pads - Heavy Correction Made Possible with a DA!

Nick, hasn't LC purple foam wool pad been out for some time now?

yes, the thin wool pads just came out. I have there older thick version. I believe the thin is a must for a complete arsenal

Yes, several years actually. The regular Purple Foamed Wool Pads are great for rotary polishers and forced rotation dual action polishers.

Man, if these will cut as good as a megs mf pad and have the durability that is claimed. These could be awesome!

I got to use these for the first time this weekend.

I love the standard purple wool via rotary when cutting for many reasons ESP because they run cool

I tested out the new thin purple pads vs my go-to Meg's MF cutting pads on my GG orbital. I found them to be comparable in cut. They actually cut a little less at first but I blame that on them not being primed well. The thin wool takes a little more product to prime. Both on speed 5 worked very well at cutting some rather hard paint.

Like on the rotary the thin wool runs much cooler than foam and MF on the orbital.

So onto my complaint... My thin wool pad cam apart on its first use after about 1/3 of a lotus exige. Wool material separated from backing material. Weird part was like I said it wasn't even running hot. I've had foam start to melt the backing plate when using the KBM for cutting but this was just odd

Can't say ill purchase again after the pad failing on its first use.

Anybody try on a 3401 yet? If so did they have a tendency to walk a lot? Need to replace my current thick LC purple wool pads. Wondering if I'll just stick with thick or go thin?

If I had to guess, I wouldn't think there would be much difference in cut between these and a Meg's MF cutting pad. I could be wrong..

Yeah, you'd be wrong. Got a pair of the woolies this week. The reason I bought them is that even using a LC yellow pad or Megs MicroFiber (with M101), severely swirled paint correction just took too long and consumed too much compound. Since I just bought a new (to me) 2001 F150...black...with lots of swirls/RIDS, etc., I tried out the woolies and they are really a vast improvement in getting quick results. A couple slow passes with medium pressure (Griots 6"), and most of the swirls were gone and ready for polishing. I imagine the 3" woolies wou be great for headlight repair.

Sorry I didn't see this post until now...

These (thin) pads were designed with the traditional DA polisher in mind - ie: PC 7424xp, Megs G110v2, etc.

Since the XC3401 is a direct-drive tool (forced rotation), pad thickness doesn't matter, so I would recommend sticking with the regular LC purple wool pads. The power and heat created by the 3401 will significantly reduce the lifespan of a thin wool pad.

Tried these and they completely fell apart after a couple uses...very disappointed. I was using them on a megs v2 and a 3" pad. Velcro came apart from the wool/ foam

I was doing a Chevy 1500 today with Tom Wedemeyer and he used the 3" on the Rupes today and it seemed to do just fine.

Any other opinions? One of two of my LC MF pads delaminated after two uses. But some of my LC foam pads have been bulletproof.

At our Chicagoland Detail Day Dave from Lake Country came down and let us try these pads. I was lucky enough to not only get to use this new pad but also used them w/ a Rupes 21 and it worked like a dream! I will be getting a 3" and 6" Nanofoam pad for my GG RO's, no doubt about it!

Same thing happened to me - they have a very short lifespan but work exceedingly well. Just plan accordingly.

Thats a real bummer...i did enjoy the correction ability while they lasted....i really hope they fix this issue....

Mine died in less than 10 uses.
Meaning after 10 polishing cycle it delaminated from the velcro.
Each polishing cycle = 1 panel when i add additional product on the pad

After meeting Dave @ Lake Country at our achicagoland Detail Day he offered to replace one of my LC mf pads but I told him not to worry about it because I didn't know and tossed it, so a simple email to them is worth a shot, especially on a new product line like this.
