Apparently I'm late to the party as there sold out with around a month wait.

Was looking at MC1385 and purchased at Amazon yesterday when they had the $149.00 sale. Should be here next week. Wanted to see what people who have had this steamer and been using it for a few months still think of it. Thanks.

I think I was one of the first people to get one of these steamers. Use it almost daily and it is the boss. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

MC1375 (model below mc1385) on sale right now at Amazon for 129 and in stock

I almost talked myself into getting a vx5000 but hated to spend that much when I'm only detailing part time right now. I'm so glad I saw this thread, the 1385 fits my budget and everyone here seems very happy with it. Has anyone seen the Renny Doyle steamer DVD? Is it worth $40 for someone like me who has never used a steamer before? Thanks!

If your looking for a video that has tips and tricks for using a steamer for detailing, AMMONYC has a great video on YouTube that's about 35 minutes long and covers temp and technique for all the different areas of the vehicle to maximize time and get the best results.

I know there is a way to up the pressure in a VX5000 but has anyone tried to increase the pressure of the MC1385?

Would be cautious about that. I'm not sure the McCulloch is as rugged as the VX.

The 1375 has, 1, 5 star review. It seems to be similar to the 1385. Interested to see what others have to say about these lesser expensive models.

I have the 1375. It is very similar to the 1385, but lacks the steam control at the nozzle.

FWIW, I am very happy with the unit. However, I am not really experienced with Steam Cleaners - this was my first one. I've used this one on my boat, my cars and in my kitchen. It was dynamite cleaning seatbelts, it was great cleaning the head in my boat and it was amazing on the oven racks in the kitchen.

Don't read too much into the 58 PSI. It gets there but goes right down while you are working. It is usually in the mid 40s in the real world.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip, I've seen AMMONYC vids before but never one on using a steamer. Gonna be doing a Subaru interior in the near future with footprints on the headliner and various other kid inflicted damage. A little nervous about the headliner, I don't want to get too aggressive with it.

i purchased the mcculloch 1275 (the one you can pick up at hf for 90 after discount), and it did a pretty good job imo is headliner cleaning. i wanted to pick up a steamer to get into using for certain tasks, such as headliner and leather seat cleaning as i hate having to soap and soak leather since they will absorb chemicals and be a little tacky after cleaning sometimes.

going over the headliner i had kid marks, like black lines, fingerprints from candy, etc on a gray headliner in our 01 sequoia. and it only took a few seconds of quick swipes with the steamer to loosen and blot up all the spots.. i wanted to avoid using any apc type cleaners that might loosen the glue in the headliner, but i figure on a hot ass day in the sun the headliner is probably going to be between 100-150 degrees anyway from the baking interior to the hot roof panel. so steam without chemicals should be a safe bet to get dirt out without introducing glue dissolving chemicals. and it did work well imho for my application

Im looking to get a steamer myself. How does this one compare to the vapamore and the mytee?. Mytee says there's gets to 350°. I like the price of the McCulloch. Just wondering if the $100 dollar difference means anything about performance. Also does the MC 1375 and 1385 have the same power, just different size tanks?
Thanks for any help.

i'd like to see someone do a direct comparison on the two side by side as well... seems hard to find that anyone actually has. there is a big difference in temperature and pressure on the two and i can only think that higher temp and higher pressure would provide a better clean...

videos please anybody of comparison?

found this btw

Got my 1385 in the other day and tested it on a rug in the house. It worked great and produced some nice results. I ran it for a little while then did something else but when I came back to start steaming again, instead of shooting steam out it shot straight hot water and lots of it. After a bunch of water shot out it finally went back to steam, does anyone else experience this??

Happens with my steamer too. Its normal. The steam cools and that's what the water stream you get is

Yea I always make sure to point mine away on the ground to get rid of that water. I'm bummed my power switch fell out. I can put it back and it kind of works ok but I may have to put a new switch in or try to get it replaced on a warranty from Amazon.

are you draining the hose after you shut it off? if not maybe it's condensation settling in the hose and that's what the initial water dripping is?
