Just pick one durable LSP and call it a day in that regard. No need to waste money on a bunch of LSP's. I'd go with a sealant.

You should still be able to tell if the car has swirls. Put on some sunglasses, that will help reduce the brighness of the sun, and reveal swirls if there are any.

You don't need leatherique for new leather.

Don't forget some fine grade clay.

^^^ I agree. I think people go too crazy on LSP's and forget the 90/10 rule.

That's what I tell my wife all the time; short and simple......:D

OK, your list was pretty good but even new cars can require some finish care before sealing and waxing...

Will you be using a dual action polisher? They're worth their weight in gold and I highly recommend purchasing on like Porter Cables 7424xp. For efficiency, finish consistency and clarity don't overlook this valuable tool..

Ok forgive me for the noob question.. but LSP? what would these be? I have the Menzerna powerlock Sealant. Is that what you meant? I also have the V7 which is like a touch up/last step spray sealant

You should still be able to tell if the car has swirls. Put on some sunglasses, that will help reduce the brighness of the sun, and reveal swirls if there are any. Ok great thanks for the tip. I went out and looked w/ sunglasses on and in the garage w/ both the lights on and lights off w/ just natural light.. No real swirls.. Feeling pretty lucky about that though im sure there are prob some very light ones overlooked. hard to tell on white pearl.

You don't need leatherique for new leather. I was wondering if I needed them. I have purchased them before for an older bmw I had. did wonders.. Thought it may be over kill for brand new coated leather seats..

So any suggestions on a leather cleaner for new coated leather???

Don't forget some fine grade clay.

Your list is good.

It will all be done by hand at this time. 1. because at the moment its all I can afford 2. It's the only way I've applied products in the past so far. 3. I would love to purchase one down the road but would want someone there for good instruction or to take a class before attempting this

I see the Meguiars Clay you suggested.

after looking around I see Clay bars and Clay lube.

DO I need both? I know prep is key from what I've been reading and I dont mind spending the time to do it. But I just need to know what All i need to purchase as far as claying is concerned.

MANY THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S Time and Suggestions !! :props:

Buy the fine grade speedy towel or nano skin auto mitt instead of clay. Much more efficient.

If you do want clay, buy a meguiars or mothers clay kit over the counter. It'll have all you need. Walmart is cheapest ime

Claying is an important step and should be done at least once annually. Keep in mind that claying will more then likely remove any sealant or wax that might still exist so don't use it monthly unless you really need to.

Clay lubricant is a must in order for the clay to glide across the finish removing embedded dirt and grime a simple wash won't remove...

Some great information from Mike Phillips on Claying

Basic steps in order are:
  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Paint Correction & Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax

Thanks BobbyG ! Very informative.

Like poster stated above . do u agree that OTC Clay from meguiars from walmart would be perfectly fine?

Or should I order something more superior offline?

Keep in Mind this is paint that is only a couple of weeks old and has been washed once a week and garaged kept.

Im not excusing the paint from having factory imperfections..

Just saying it may not need the special love that a vehicle would that was a few years old.

Just trying to stay informed..

THANKS- John

I use pinnacle ultra fine clay. For glass I use diamondite system once a month, in between I use invisible glass cleaner.

Hi John,

The over the counter Meguiar's or Mothers clay work very well and I've used both with nothing but success. Be sure to use plenty of lube and Mike's articles articulate this quite well.......Claying actually takes "about" 30 minutes or so to complete an entire car....:props:

While you've owned the car for only a few weeks the paint is probably more like 8 weeks or more old and is baked at the factory so it's ready for nearly anything that comes its way...:props:

Great Daytona Brushes are being ordered.

Still on the fence on glass cleaner so Picking up a can of Stoners Invisible tomorrow and gonna continue to do a little research on Glass cleaning sealants for the outside windshield

Thanks for all the continued Input. Means alot.

WOW clay process takes alot less time than I was thinking. 30 to 40 minutes is Great!

I was considering just finishing my wheels off with some Menzerna sealant and possibly a light spray of V7 applied with a microfiber for protection.
I've looked at Wheel Wax but looks like its more trouble than its worth from my reading so far.

ALSo Can anyone comment on the best way to keep My plastic body cladding on the sides and back looking Like new as they do now. Clean and protection if possible.

I have thus far only considered spraying them with v7.

Not sure what to coat them in. Don't want an over dressed glossy look though

Power lock/V7 combo is perfect. You don't need anymore than that.

Optimum leather protectant is awesome to clean and protect new coated leather.

Pick up a nano skin fine grade clay mitt. You don't need regular clay.

Use sunglasses with regular sunlight, not artificial. Make sure the paint is stripped of any waxes the dealer may have put on, so u can see the true finish.

You definitely need clay and the lube. The clay lube allows the clay to glide across the surface and help prevent the clay from marring the paint. Lube the surface very well as well as the surface of the clay before you start. If you don't want to buy a dedicated clay lube you can try something like Optimum ONR which you can use for rinseless washes as well as a clay lube depending on the dilution ratio you use. If you want something OTC check out meguiars quick detailer and use that with the clay for lubricant. Congrats on the purchase of your Subaru. I've had one for a few years now and love it.
