I have it on my black Civic. See my other thread. Applied the same way with great results.

I'm not sure if links are allowed here. Google optimum forums

I don't know if it was mentioned before or not, but what pads is everyone using to apply besides the one that comes with the Opti-Coat? Are you just using the regular Pinnacle Foam Pads? I need to order some more of something but I want to make sure I order the right thing!

Thanks!

Hope this thread isn't dead!

Yeah, use the foam pads and apply almost like a wowa sealant

Yes, Opti Guard and Opti Coat 2.0 can be polished. If you find that you have to polish aggressively enough that the properties of the coating cease, polish the entire panel before you reapply because it cannot be layered.

Chris, why can't Opti Coat 2.0 be layered?

Chris, why can't Opti Coat 2.0 be layered?

Because Opti-coat does not easily bond to itself. The properties of Opti-coat make it so that nothing can really bond to it, including itself once it is cured. I bet Chris will explain it mre thoroughly.

My opti-coated Tacoma was totalled when I was hit by a drunk driver...so I just applied Opti-coat to my new '11 Corolla.

1) Is there a period of time I need to wait before applying OCW or a Carnauba wax over top of it?

2) I'd like to apply Opti-Coat to my Waverunner. Is it ok to apply it over the paint and decals? It be too hard with all the decals to coat just the paint. Yes it's paint not gelcoat.

This may have been covered but I cannot go through 28 pages :(

Has anyone just applied it to certain area's of their vehicles (for example: roof, hood?)

Why not? Of course you can!! I think that CEE DOG did that in his review of the coating. Check it out and you can see for yourself.

I've done 3 cars with it so far and I am planning on using my wife's car as a test bed with only half of the car coated and the other half having standard wax and sealants applied like I do with my other cars. I want to see how the finish holds up in regards to swirls and scratches.

On a note, one of the cars i did about 2 months ago came in for a wash and when i ran my hand across the paint, it felt like sandpaper. The owner said they have been parking under a tree that is giving off sap!! :( :( To my surprise, i took out the hose and started rinsing it and 99% of the contaminant came off. Now, I am thinking the contaminant was pollen and not sap, but for it to wash off almost all the way, I was very impressed. When I was done, the car looked perfect, like the day I polished and coated it!

I am going to do the roof of my SUV soon. You just want to do it on a complete surface(meaning not like half a A pillar) so you can't see a difference.

I believe dougaross said somewhere that he initially applied it to the front and rear of his cars to aid in bug removal, but he liked it so much that he OC 2.0'd the entire thing.

There's definitely no harm in doing just a panel or two, but make sure you do the whole panel. I, personall, love having it on the entire car. Makes cleaning a breeze.

doug also noted that you use more doing a few panels here and there b/c you have to prime the pad each time.

Also the applicator can be washed immediately after use and reused.

Why wouldn't you want to split a panel? I mean, not using tape or anything and just eyeballinng halfway and feathering the product at the halfway point? The only thing i've noticed is a slight darkening of the paint with OC applied, I can't imagine what else could go wrong with it?

You wouldn't want to split a panel because the product won't stick to itself. You won't be able to finish the rest of it with OC unless you polish off the side you already did. Plus, it will look a bit odd with only one side done, so aesthetically it is undesirable.
