Hey everyone, my brother is looking to buy a new car (sedan type) for under $22,000. I know this slims down the search pretty good, but that's what his budget is. Does anyone have any suggestions on the highest quality ride he can get for that price? Anyone? Thanks!

Does it have to be new? You can get a much better car barely used, or sometimes a leftover model that's still new but being moved to make way for new inventory. What is he looking for, smooth ride, sporty, manual trans, power etc?

Chris, he's just a nice quality ride. He has no concern with power or sport, more into comfort and quality, auto tranny. Doesn't have to be new I suppose.

Kinda limited for 22K, probably just a normal Accord or Camry but they can easily push 30K when optioned up. Hyundai may be another choice especially if he's stuck on new. I personally would say buy barely just just used or a left over model that's still new but with huge discounts off MSRP. That could put more cars in his range like maybe a newer Acura TL, Maxima, Chrysler 300C etc.

Hell, if all he wants is a smooth reliable ride, tell him to grab a Mercury Grand Marquis, their basically giving them away.

You can get a Honda Accord,Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima,Mazda 6,Hunydai Sonata, Kia Optima , and others. Ive seen a new 06 Nissan Altima for $16,000.00, And a 07 Hunydai Sonata for $15,000.00. Chevy Impala , Chevy Malibu, Ford Fusion, and Chrysler Sebring are more cars that are under $20,000.

Nothing beats a 2-3 year old car. If you can get your hands on one that you know has been taken care of, you can get a pretty nice used car for that kind of money. I would take something like a 2005 Lincoln LS, 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP or maybe a 300C or Charger over anything you can get new for that price. Or if he can handle the higher cost of maintanence he could get a 3-4 year old entry level BMW or Lexus even.

Ford Fusion it's has been a great car so far and no complaints thus far.

Smaller: Honda Civic and Mazda 3

Larger: Honda Accord, (I've heard some poor things about the Toyota Camry's acceleration design. I head it has a very long and bad "lag" in it. Many say it's simply dangerous) Ford Fusion, Saab 9-3

thanks guys and gals.....I've pointed him in the right direction:cheers:

Honda Civic Si - Sedan (not auto but under 22k and sporty)

He's narrowed it down to a Hyundai Sonata (nice warranty, good reviews) , Saturn Aura, Nissan Altima, or Ford Fusion.

Now test drive them all, and then decide.
