my wife and I got this same exact car 1 year ago with 20k for $18,000. No complaints this far:-)

He's narrowed it down to a Hyundai Sonata (nice warranty, good reviews) , Saturn Aura, Nissan Altima, or Ford Fusion.

Saturn Aura!!
You can't kill a Saturn either. My husband got 300k out of his and it was still running fine, only regular small repairs. Original tranny (manual) and all. Was a 92 SL1. That is their general rep.
We have a 2006 Relay that has 34k on it - wonderful too!!
Gotta detail it and put it up!!
Tell him - I have a lot of similar stories and I do not care for Saturn myself - not a lot of looks, IMHO.
Aura!
Aura!
Aura!

Hope this helps!
Lauren ;)

Out of those, I pick the fusion! My bro has one and it is a pretty good car. I think you could get the v6 for about 22 grand also.

He really likes the Fusion and is test driving one today, but he's having a hard time pulling his wife away from the Saturn. I must admit, the Saturn looks nice too....

Yeah, it's on his list;)

We wait with baited breath to fine out which car he chose. Dengood, will you then do the first detail on it?

Fusion and Aura both look like both cars. V6, interior is good, and the outsides are also attractive. Definitely cannot go wrong with either. I have not driven the Aura, but the fusion is a pretty fun drive. Not Corvette fun, but its not BAD.

Would love to, but he live in St. Pete, 100 miles away. Plus, he could care less if it's detailed:( Some people care, some don't. I will offer as usual, but he will decline, guaranteed!

Looks like it's between a Fusion and a Pontiac G6. He said the Saturn went over his budget.

Have you looked at the Volvo S40? QUALITY!!!

Just curious but why does it have to be new? He can find something a year old or dealer moving left over inventory for thousands below msrp for a nice car etc?

Maybe there are still some 2006 models out there?

He's looking at '06 models too. I can't understand why he wants to buy something brand new when he can save a ton of money buying one a year or two old, he says they just want to buy something new, as they always have. Oh well, his money! He know's little about vehicles and is going a lot by looks and warranty, not necessarily quality. Whatever......he ticked me off a little when I was trying to explain to him that he could have a used(say two years old) higher quality model or make for the same price, but didn't want to listen to reason. Like I said, his money.

Thanks everyone for sending your suggestions.

P1eT----the S40 was over his budget.

First of all, after being in the auto business for 9 years, I would and have never bought a new automobile. I can't stand the thought of wiping my butt with 10-12k in depreciation. I can understand a new Corvette or even leasing if you stay within your miles.

Example is my wife's van. 2005 Ford Freestar SE. 26750 new. Had a 3000 rebate. Taxes and all would have been back up around 23000.00. I payed 12569.00 out the door for a used one with 21256 on the odometer. She's driving a 2007 Grand Prix now that is a rental while her's is in the shop for body repairs. It has 10k on the odo and I could buy it for 9500.00 right now!!! Enterprise unloads all of their rentals at about 25-30k miles. Yeah some are abused, but if you know the guys there like I do, they can tell me which ones are in good shape. We have never had nothing but good luck doing this.

These are just my opinions and experiences.

If I ever get enough up to buy my dream car [Torch Red Mustang GT 5-spd] I will call you up to find the deals! :p

Justin : if you know of any nice Audi RS4s, Porsche 911 Turbos or a nice M3, let me know!

If you are ready to buy one, then let me know. I can find just about any car including exotics within a day if they are out there. Most are owned by wealthy clients just wanting to get some new and exciting so they will take a loss and then you save alot.

That's how operate as well. I bought one new car(Mustang GT) when I was 19 years old and that's the last new car I've owned(I'm 38 yrs old now). I realized at an early age that there are deals out there for barely used vehicles in perfect condition that you don't eat all of the depreciation with.

Some people like the peace in mind knowing the COMPLETE history of the car. I on the other hand want the best bang for the buck, and that is nearly new!
