New Shop is Getting Somewhere

holy crap wow! I am very very very very very very very.....very jealous! I can only imagine how much something like that cost to put together!

Got a bit more work done this week.

Got some drywall hung and OSB on the back wall. Last night we got everything cleaned out of the shop so we can coat the floor next week with U Coat It floor epoxy. After the floor is coated then we can get the office/bathroom built and finish up the drywall.

The back of the shop will be the wet area, that is why there is not going to be drywall back there. Just can't decided on what to use to cover the OSB with to keep it all water tight. If anyone has any ideas feel free to let me know.

Started on the U Coat It yesterday and let me tell you this is no fun at all. Almost 4000sq ft is a pain to sweep up with a shop vac. The fumes from the acid etching were killer and the bond coat was a major pain to get right. For the bond coat the floor needs to be damp and let me tell you there is a thin line from damp to wet... All in all the first coat turned out nice though.

Today comes the final coat and boy I cant wait for that to be done.

Well it wasn't fun but the floor is done

Where's this new shop located? I may just have to make a drive to visit!

Your Shop looks great... however I'm noticing a Trend on DIY Home Reno Shows and then I see it in your Shop as well.

People do their Floors and then they Paint the Walls next... this is of course you are planning on painting your Walls eventually.

Wouldn't it be easier and a whole lot less worrisome, to Paint the Walls first and then do the Floor last ?

Of course you would do what ever you could to protect the Floor from big spills and overspray of Paint... and you could use Scaffolding (on Wheels) to help Paint the large areas quicker... and you could even use a Paint Sprayer, too instead of using Rollers.

But me thinks that doing the Walls first, would be better them doing them afterwards.

On Home DIY shows, I see people putting down expensive Wood Floors... and then later getting out the Paint and do the Walls. It just seems like the wrong order.

Painting the Walls in a Shop of this size would sure help brighten up the place, since it appears you're not boarding in the Ceiling... or are you?

I'm not criticizing, but just trying to understand the logic.

Very nice Shop… I am so envious.

We are not done building the walls (office & bathroom) and we wanted the floor coated before we start on the interior walls. That way if we decide to take a wall down there wont be a bare spot. Plus we wanted it coated before we put the lift in. If it was just paint then it wouldn't be a big deal but this is a very expensive 2 part epoxy that we are dealing with.

The ceiling will be finished once the walls are built ;)

Awesome! All the boys are going to be jealous!

Lookin' good

You could tile "wet area", that would be fun :D

A 3 car garage within a garage :righton:

This is the area where the Camaros will be stored. Full bathroom and get away area is whats on the right.

LOL I actually didn't even think about it until I stood back to take the pictures. I just started laughing and said "Hey a 3 car garage within a garage" :) Most people don't get lucky enough to even have a 3 car garage so we feel pretty blessed.
