New Toys for the car

I want two 12's now. I tried to keep it simple simon. But I then discovered AGO lol :D

Love this place, I might even write about it in my essay that is due for class. We have to write about a sanctuary that we personally have. More on that later if I do write about AGO.

Not to sure where you tie discovering AGO and going from 2 10s to 2 12’s based on another member's comment.

Don’t get to hung up on quantity, this is about quality. I have done close to 15 to 20 different systems for friends and colleagues and they all have been single driver systems. My 2001 TL has a JL 12w7 in a vented box tuned to 32hz, with a JL 500/1 amp; which is underrated at 500 watts RMS.
I cant tell you how many times people listen to it and say “you must have 3 12s or 3 10s” and my favorite is “I have 1500 watts on my 3 12”s and why is yours louder”
Marketing from these companies is great, they put a 1200 watt sticker on the box, and end of the day its only 300 watts RMS and supposedly “1200 watts peak”

This is very handy when you don't want to be heard and at the price it's almost a steal.

It lets you control the Amp on the fly

^I installed it myself and also it is very easy to install btw

I had the JL control installed with my JL amp. For all the other posts, the reason I went with Polk Audio dual 10"'s is because Best Buy had them for $32.00 each free shippping, I got the custom sub enclosure for free for using my car for a template, so I was basically out the JL amp and install and $64.00 for the dual subs OH yeah Im the MAN

Which AMP do you recommend for the type R's? I want a digital one, because I want and need everything hidden. My friend who has a car stereo shop said something along the lines of. If your are going to get Alpine Sub's then get an Alpine Amp.

I also want 6x9's for the back and 6x5's for the front

What kind of car?

The Alpine Type R is power hungry I would feed it anywhere from 300 to 600 watts RMS. For interior go with Alpine Type Rs. For amp I would go with a 5 channel unless you have room for 2 amps. If you want to stick to alpine look at the Alpine Mrx V70 5 channel amp. IF you want just a sub amp go with the Alpine M500.

Thank You, I have this car 2003 Dodge Stratus Coupe

I want to upgrade little by little, a 5 channel is what I have been looking at however.

I am not sure if I should go with 6x9's first. Or if I should upgrade the after market woofer first.

I want an amp that could power all the speakers, 6x5's, 6x9's and the woofer.

I made the comparison to AG, because I always want to buy in bulk.

(Hard to explain, if you don't get it. Then Nvm, thanks for the speaker help however)

I would upgrade the 6.5s and 6x9s first, those type Rs punch out tons of midbass. Cross over the speakers at about 60hz and you will have some awesome midbass bass.

The fifth channel of that Alpine amp puts out 350 watts RMS I would rather go with Alpine Type S 12" in a ported box over the Type R. IF you want to look outside of Alpine go with a JL W3v3 12"
Dont forget to sound dampen the doors.

What JL amp? Thats hell of a deal.

JL 500/1 amp, got it on amazon for about $175.00 and I had all professionally installed for $150.00 with the remote, wiring etc. they did a great job. The enclosure was done by Z Enclosures, they make some really nice custom affordable stuff. Lucky me, they are an hour away from me. So yeah, I really ended up coming out good on the whole thing. I was pretty much happy with the Infinity system that came with my car and wasn't really going to dump a bunch into the stereo. it's a garage queen, had it since 4/12 and just turned 4,000 miles. I put my $$ into wheels/tires, exhaust, and a couple other goodies. Since I got such a deal on the sub set up is the only reason I went with it. Basically saved about half off of what it would have cost. It's plenty for what I wanted.

I like the sound of this with my V-6 and my stereo exhaust note.

Thank You Very Much,

Final question (hopefully)

Will my stereo be ok to power the 6.5's and 6x9's until I can upgrade the amp.

I have a mono amp only connected to my 12" woofer.

So basically what I am asking is: will not having an amp, damage the aftermarket 6.5's and 6x9's? Will they be ok with just my Alpine car stereo until I can upgrade the amp?

should be fine.

Very nice setup! I'd love to have some Focal components in my truck. I wouldn't even need the woofer.

Super clean installs in this thread. I wouldn't expect anything less on a detailing forum.

The mid woofers on the focals do kick out a decent amount of midbass.

That's a great deal on the amp. The slash series of amps is the best I have heard (under1k price)and quality is amazing. In my 2001 TL I have the 500/1 and 300/4 which I bought in 2002 and zero issues.

What wheels are those? I am looking at some vossen VVSCV3. Click on the link and you will see them on a white and graphite TL with them.
