I met up with my distributor earlier this week to pick up some clay, since I was running low. Picked up a block of the fine clay. Not being aggressive enough, I had to meet up with my distributor again to pick up something with a little more bite. He was back in town so I met up with him. He threw me a foam block and said, "use this". I had no idea what it is. A foam block with a thin layer of a rubbery stuff on one side. He said it is a new type of clay and was somewhere between fine and aggressive.
Here is a few pics of what it looks like....

I really had nothing to try this on when I got home. My truck was clayed about a month ago and was slick. I did though, pass it along the paint on the passenger side door to get a feel for it. I could feel it bite. It felt very good going across the paint. It was a very overcast day, and getting ready to rain again. From what I could tell at the time, it did not mar the paint. I need to test it on a dark colored car that NEEDS to be clayed.

I dropped it in the dirt/mud on purpose to see how that would work...lol It washed right of. I inspected the block, and nothing was stuck to it.
I can also see dipping this in your wash bucket, then claying. When it starts to dry up, give it a squeeze to release more soapy water.

It looks promising, and I will be doing another review on it when the rain lets up and we get a decent day.

Has anyone used one of these yet? My distributor got a few in to try out and let me have one. Not even sure of the price yet either.

I would be interested how well it works what scares me is that it looks like a sanding block that you would pick up at HD..Keep us posted

The foam is pretty soft. Almost like a polishing pad.
It just has that thin layer of "rubber stuff" on top.

darnit, shouldn't you be out detailing and testing out the new clay block:p :p

I used my regular clay lube when I initially tried it out. Worked fine. I was thinking that you could dip it in your soap bucket, let the sponge soak up some soapy water, and go from there. Just start claying and squeeze a bit to release more soapy water for more lube.

It looks identical to the "Ultima Elastrofoam Block" that DavidB is coming out with.

Here is a question, once you have passed over an area how are you supposed to make it into a ball and get another clean area? To me it seems like a one time use because I can't see how you would be able to turn it into a ball and get a fresh side to use.

Well just wondering that's all.

DF Towel also sells a foam block which acts like clay. Theirs is white.

You do not have to roll it on a ball. It is not clay, but a rubber. To get a "clean area" you just wipe it off, and it comes clean. You wipe this, while with clay, you knead.

From what I read, and was told from my distributor, you can do 20-30 cars. Of course, that depends on how bad the cars are.

I just took it outside to try it out on my Wifes car. Used it on some old tar. Came off with ease.

Oh so it's not clay this is rubber. Interesting, is the rubber like a silicone rubber or more like a stiff rubber?

Now I'm just curious and to remove tar I could have used that a few weeks ago lol.

looks like clay and a piece of foam attached kinda like the polishing pad can. problem, how do you kneed the clay when dirty ???

I am confused. Do you use the rubber or the foam part against the paint???

Hmmm so it's not clay, but it does what a clay does huh. That's interesting.

This is too funny, its like the scene from a movie that I cannot remember the title to... What is it? I know what that is.. What the hel.. what is it.. Sorry just struck me funny. So if you drop it you rense it off. I just dropped a brand new piece last night.
