New wheels need coating!

LOL yeah. I wonder how much "consumer" product you'd use with an airbrush... It seems only OCP and CQF are applied via airbrush...

What you guys think about coating wheel that got matte finish on them? Will turn them to gloss side?

The coating will not make the matte finish glossy. That would be the best filling product ever. It may darken the color some.

I'm back to the detailing forums after a brief hiatus. I received new wheels today! TRD FJ SE Anthracite alloys.

I am planning on coating them thoroughly before I even mount tires on them. I have a myriad of sealants and waxes but I feel like I want a coating on them since they are brand new, never installed.

I am considering CarPro CQuartz, DP Wheel Coating, Pinnacle, or Duragloss.

Which coating on the market these days should give me the longest lasting, most durable protection.

I haven't used them all so I cannot pick one for you.

When I got brand new wheels last fall< I had to wait several days to have them mounted. I DID put three coats of DG 105 on the inside and out before mounting.

Late fall I switched to ceramic brake pads to reduce dust.

I CAN say that now, after a snowy and road salt winter, my wheels cleaned up (better than my tires) just pressure spraying them in a wash stall.

Time for the post-winter re-coat!!

I have used the Klasse twins in the past and have never been dissapointed.

I'm using CQuartz UK to coat my wheels, at least two coats. The tires will be getting Tuf Shine before they are mounted. Good luck with the spring detail.

I'm still working on number 2. Halfway there! CQuartz UK is really easy to use now. It really is no harder to use than any other LSP, on these particular wheels anyway. At first I was being a little stingy with the product I think. Since I have been spreading it more liberally I can see it going down.

I hope to get them coated before the tires arrive on Monday. The rubber will be treated to Tuf Shine. I hope that a little work now will save ALOT of work down the road!

Here is the finished result............. She's dirty but the new wheels are mounted, balanced, and coated.

Confirmed for those who wondering
Coated my avantgarde matte brushed finish gunmetal wheel with two coats of cquartz. It did not turn the finish to gloss and did darken the color, which i really enjoy.
Thanks
