New Word of the Day

It seems to me that the members paradigm of the use of Amor All tire dressings differ from the opinions expressed by some AG staff.

May 17, 1974: LAPD raid leaves 6 SLA members dead. The 500 person team fired 1200 rounds into the SLA dwelling.

For cogitative objectives, I submit, for the "new word(s) of the day", 05.18.2012, the following:

Rheology

Definition:

1. Branch of science that deals with the flow of matter, mainly liquids; and, in some cases, solids and soft solids as well.
2. The study of the deformation and flow of matter.
3. The ability to flow or be deformed

And...

Shelf-life

Definition:
1. The term/time period, during which a stored commodity remains effective, useful, or suitable for its stated intended uses/purposes.

-Often, a member of the AGO forum will inquire, in so many words: "How long are my car-care products good for"?; and, "What measures should be taken to ensure they stay good as long as possible"?
(I can only assume these questions are in regards to the shelf-life of car-care products.)

-As such...and along with responses from many AGO forum members, products' manufacturers, etc.; to muse/ponder....

I will infer that, for car-care products:
Chemists'/Formulators, and their knowledge of rheology, would be the ones that seemingly would have the ability to provide the most 'learned-response' concerning this issue.

BTW:

-Is Collinite #845...(which often must undergo a: pre-application, "Jerry Lee Lewis-que Process")...Thixotropic?

^^ Thank you FUNX725 for picking up my slack and for the additions! I hate to admit I totally forgot about yesterday... so much about stuff becoming habit forming!

Abecedarian (ey-bee-see-dair-ee-uhn)

1. a person who is learning the letters of the alphabet
2. a beginner in any field of learning

It seems as though through spring and summer there are many abecedarian folks that are seeking information about starting a detailing company or how to better take care of their vehicles.

Today on May 18...

1804 Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed Emperor of France (I have been told I have Napoleon complex because of my size any height, whatever... ya gonna do something about it?!!?) :p

1917 U.S. passes Selective Service act

1927 Ritz Hotel opens in Boston. Something many do not know about, a cheese factory opened next door shortly after! haha!

1986 Chung Kwung Ying did 2750 "atomic" hand-stang push-ups

On May 18th, 1929:

Al Capone was imprisoned following his plea of guilty to the minor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
This, as he would soon discover, and as demonstrated by furtherance of the FBI's: Educational Courses for the "Abecedarian-Impaired"...better known as:
Alcohol Beverage Control (the ABC's)...was only the 'beginning of the end' of his days as a dominating force as a "Businessman" in Chicago.

*Great post to cogitate on an empirical level.:props:

*Re: rheology: I've always wondered if non-reinforced concrete was liquid or soft solid.

*Abecedarian: great choice as usual Tundra 10:props:

Aww! Thats awesome that you mentioned Mt. St. Helens, when on my travels I actually saw the mountain, or what is left of it! First time ever, sorry just felt like being a little sentimental!

Anaclastics

Definition:
1. Refracting
2. Produced by the refraction of light,
3. Breaking the rectilinear course of light

-Often, when I'm discussing how well, or what, the "reflective-values" of our freshly detailed vehicles' panel surfaces may be,
I tend to be unmindful to include not only their "anaclastics' values"...but other 'light-behaviors', as well.

-The following pictorials, although not too scientific in nature, may assist in understanding these aforementioned light-behaviors.
I know I was enlightened!!

Hubristic (hu-bris-tic)

Definition: excessive pride or self-confidcence; arrogance.

Source: Dictionary.com

The "green" detailers hubristic approach to learning new techniques hindered his ability to truly grasp the concepts and know the proper way to detail the cars. Unfortunately for him, the arrogance he exuded was the catalyst for the demise of his short-lived company.

{Oh! The hubris of these 'radicals', thinking such an ideology of: "Human Rights",
could actually co-exist with Communism's political and socioeconomic organization in mainland China!!}

I wonder, when the Chinese authorities decide to remove all foriegn countries' 'Corporate Operations' from their homeland-soil, how many tanks will be required.

Judging from your use of the NWoD, not only are you back; but you're back with a vengence.

Hubris: Extreme pride or arrogance. Often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one's own competence or capabilities.

The hubristic postings in recent weeks on the forum concerning steel wool (0000) and chrome lead me to wonder if it is more important to some to be seen as the one that can pull this off when others seem to fail.
In my past, I have used steel wool on rough, weathered chrome wheels; and the results were that the rust had been removed. However, scratching did occur, and I learned from that experience.

Kowtow (kou-tou)

Definition:
1. to act in an obsequious manner; show servile deference.
2. to touch the forehead to the ground while kneeling, as an act of worship, reverence, apology, etc., especially in former Chinese custom.

Source: Dictionary.com

A group of hubristic detailers were exchanging niceties and tips among themselves at AG's detail fest, trying to prove to one another that they knew more than the other guy. Suddenly they realized, while chit chatting, Mike Philips had walked up into their discussion. Instantly they all became humble and kowtowed to his awesome presence as he smirked, engaged, and enlightened the detailers on his experiences in the matter of discussion.
