New Word of the Day

And yours too, my friend! :dblthumb2:
Hope that you got your package.
Waiting for the Porsche. over an hour late.

A "new word of the day" for 09.21.2012:

Delineate

Definition:
1. Describe; render in drawing or writing (draft)
2. Chart; mark off; outline
3. Define; depict; portray; represent
4. Demarcate; distinguish; differentiate
5. Make perfectly clear; spell out; throw light on; explain

-Many times, an AGO member will use a "tape-line" to delineate vehicles'
surface-areas to be polished---from those not-yet/awaiting to be polished.

I like to refer to this practice as: "tells the tale"/"tale of the tape"; that is: if the product/processes
are performing to the 'correction-abilities' one is pursuing, as well as to ones expectations.

For 10.01.2012's "new word of the day":

Asperity

Definition:
1. Hardship; difficulty; rigor
2. Roughness of surface; unevenness.
3. Something rough or harsh.
4. Harshness or sharpness of tone, temper, or manner;

-After being subjected to the harsh enviromental climate of Las Vegas, VictoryRed08's Corvette's paint surfaces
had the asperity of former President Richard Nixon's: "five o'clock shadow"!

-However...AGO forum member smack will have no asperity in correcting these 'blemishes'.

:)

Bob

One thing I can tell you for sure is that the offending mineral deposits that have your car looking so bad are still on the paint in that last photo you've posted. It really looks to me that this is a topical mess that may or may not have etched too deeply into your Corvette's paint.

The mineral deposits in the last photo can be seen around the edge of the water spots as a white crusty deposit that is actually laying on top of the paint at the time the photo was taken. I am not saying that these deposits haven't yet etched their way into your Corvette's paint. I am saying that at the time the photo was taken, "the cart is in front of the horse so to speak".

Not that it matters, but I'm awating VR08's test spot photos and the revelation of whether etched, or not. I'm leaning towards not; or not deeply.

4. Harshness or sharpness of tone, temper, or manner;

It always amazes me when posters feel a certain asperity in the replies of posters on the forum.
While there are those that do get banned for the obvious, most times an apology is quickly posted for the offended party.

Now that I think about it, what's the objective for post id 740881...bad day?

A "new word of the day" for 10.02.2012:

Supercilious

Definition:
1. Arrogant; scornful; indifferent
2. Disdainful
3. Haughty; lordly; prideful; sniffy(snooty)

(Etymology):
-Super (above) + cilium (eyelid)

Some folks, those seemingly: 'Swanned-sourced/Silver-spooned'-begatted…

Shan’t substantially shrug-off their similar:
Smallness-of-ones-beginnings…(Surely: silliness)…

That’s shewn, superciliously, towards those born to: "Stations-in-life"...
that they deem to be lower-status, submissive, spiteful.

Or, so says, Societal-Scientists (and Several-AGO-Subscribers): "Hard to be Humble"

Touché

It never ceases to amaze me...the abilities of those from all walks of life that post on these forums.:goodpost:

Supercilious

Reminds me of the "booty call" Benz customer. While trying to hurry out of town, drop me off, and not trying to concede the transformation of his ride.

The supercilious demeanor of the preoccupied customer showed in his indifference towards the end result of the Phoenix-like resurrection bestowed upon his chariot.

Thanks BigAl3!!!

I suspect that those that are engaged in this particular speculation,
are hoping that the spectacle is in HD?

For 10.05.2012's "new word of the day":

Pedogenesis

Definition:
-Soil formation

-While inspecting Martha's vehicle, prior to its week-end detailing-session...Bert hollered at her:

"For mercy's-sake, Honey, how in the HE!! did your vehicle get so pedogenetic"?!?!

-Now not one to be intimidated by her Husband's belligerent outburst;
and, after performing her g(h)as-tly Old-Man-Smell test she replied:

"You seem to be quite pedogenic yourself, My Dear"!!!

Nostalgia: ~ Merriam-Webster

a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition; also: something that evokes nostalgia.

After years of abuse and inattention to their DD's appearance, many newcomers yearn for the resurrection of said to its then new, nostalgic appearance.

Another "new word of the day" for 10.15.2012:

Saponaceous

Definition:
1. Having the qualities of soap.
2. Resembling soap; soapy

(Saponaceous-Subsets):
A. Soap
Definition:
1. A cleansing agent, manufactured in bars, granules, flakes, or liquid form, made from a mixture
of the sodium salts of various fatty acids of natural oils and fats.
2. A metallic salt of a fatty acid, as of aluminum or iron.
3. To treat or cover with or as if with soap.
B. Detergent
Definition:
1. Simply put: Synthetic soaps
C.Shampoo
Definition:
1. Any of various liquid or cream preparations of soap or detergent used to wash the hair and scalp.
2. Any of various cleaning agents for rugs, upholstery, or cars.
3. The act or process of washing or cleaning with shampoo.

-I would consider one of the first steps to resurrecting a DD to its nostalgic, fresh off the assembly line,
like-new appearance, would be a car-wash session.

-Nowadays...And unlike the Days of Olde, when use of soaps were the only option for 'washing' vehicles;
we have an assortment of car-wash shampoos...whose saponaceousness is claimed to be safer,
yet just as effective, as their historical-counterparts.

-An example of one of my 'fond', nostalgic, "soap-memories"...
(after one type of 'behind-the-barn': Sinful-sessions):

YUM, YUM!!
