Seeing the sand storm beat against the freshly detailed car was cruciation to the detailer.

Having completed the polishing phase of the detail, the hobbyist backed out of the garage and witnessed a cruciation; that being the spectre of swirls proudly displaying themselves in the sunlight.

On April 24th, 1801... 1st performance of Joseph Haydn's oratorio "Die Jahreszeiten" (The Seasons)

-Listening to this entire four-part oratorio, to some folks, may, indeed, be an extreme form of cruciation.
-Others, though, while listening, may well receive inspiration, as they spend a few hours Detailing a vehicle.

A "new word of the day" for April 25th, 2012:

The "Secret Of Life"

-James D. Watson and Francis Crick, of Cambridge University, published their article in Nature Magazine explaining the structure of DNA; and, that DNA is the material that makes up genes which pass hereditary characteristics in all life from one parent to another. They concluded that it consists of a double helix of two strands coiled around each other and could even be considered the "secret of life".

-Ofttimes, a Detailer will discover that, the helices of water left upon a vehicle's panel's surfaces from a rain shower, if left to dry in the heat from the Sun's rays, may become a veritable nightmare in their removal processes.

-Oh where are the "Watsons & Cricks" of the Detailing World when we need to unlock this "secret"?!?!

:)

^^ Thank you for your contribution. There is much talked about with helix throttle body spacers. I think its more snake oil than anything else, they are devised around the "corkscrew" definition and supposedly help airflow...

Correct me if I'm wrong:

Kinda antsy right now hand. Gotta make a quick road trip. The Lac is blinging (albeit, with added waterbeads), trunk and cooler packed, and tank topped off.

4 am start time has come and gone. The better half's travel companion twisted, or did something serious to, her knee on her nightly walk.

To the point: Decided to cruise the forum while awaiting our departure. Thanks for the extremely humorous mental image that will keep me chuckling for this 400+ mile trip; as two cackling hens chatter away....thank God for the Galaxy 959 and the spring loaded Wilson Firestick.

See you NWOTD hands on the forum...

T1: Thanks for housesitting. Remember, watch how you post this time around...you may get banned .

^^ Thank you all for your contributions! VT, be careful on the road trip!

Today on April 26...

1968 Students seize administration building at Ohio State (is this around the time of the Kent State incidence?)

-The Kent State Massacre occurred on Monday, May 4th, 1970...When the Ohio National Guard, that was ordered to the Kent State University campus by then Governor James Rhodes, fired into a crowd of students protesting the Vietnam War.

-Prior to this, on Sunday, May 3rd, 1970 Governor Rhodes gave his interpretation/opinion of Vietnam protestors in the following speech, that clearly showed his deprecation for protest participants...

AP Press Release...
-During a press conference at the Kent firehouse, an emotional Governor Rhodes pounded on the desk and called the student protesters un-American, referring to them as revolutionaries set on destroying higher education in Ohio. "We've seen here at the city of Kent especially, probably the most vicious form of campus oriented violence yet perpetrated by dissident groups. They make definite plans of burning, destroying, and throwing rocks at police, and at the National Guard and the Highway Patrol. This is when we're going to use every part of the law enforcement agency of Ohio to drive them out of Kent. We are going to eradicate the problem. We're not going to treat the symptoms. And these people just move from one campus to the other and terrorize the community. They're worse than the brown shirts and the communist element and also the night riders and the vigilantes", Rhodes said. "They're the worst type of people that we harbor in America. Now I want to say this. They are not going to take over [the] campus. I think that we're up against the strongest, well-trained, militant, revolutionary group that has ever assembled in America." Rhodes can be heard in the recording of his speech yelling and pounding his fists on the desk.

A very disruptive time in America...Were the 1960's and 1970's.

I'll never forget the haunting melodies of:
"Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

^^ Thank you FUNX725! I was hoping someone was going to see me questioning it. Especially since I am originally from that area (about 40 min away from Kent main branch) I remember learning about it and thinking how crazy it was that such a historical date was so close to home. I used to love that song by CSN&Y
