New Word of the Day

Polymer: ~Wikipedia

A large molecule composed of repeating structural units. These sub-units are typically connected by covalent chemical bonds. Although the term polymer is sometimes taken to refer to plastics, it actually encompasses a large class of compounds comprising both natural and synthetic materials with a wide variety of properties.

Embrittlement: 1. Reduction or loss of ductility or toughness in metal or plastic.

I have no knowledge in the physical or natural sciences. :dunno:
This is only a postulation from my interpretation of the http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/53311-opti-coat-2-0-not-so-permanent.html& the http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/53576-re-opti-coat-not-input-wanted.html threads.

Also, I'm not aware if the 'polymers' in OC 2.0 are 'plastic' or silicon, or whatever. :dunno:

Several posters stated that OC 2.0 was applied in accordance to directions.
Also stated that the coating had 'disappeared'.

Posters and product rep leaning towards "user error", as contaminates left behind from excessive methods used to achieve perfection...KISS Method suggested.

My postulate:

Contamination left behind on the perfected clear coat paint caused the embrittlement of the polymers' covalent chemical bonding. Thus leading to early deterioration of the product.

My two cents...and attempt at the NWoD.

Perseverance: steady persistance in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

The lack of tools and product did not discourage the newb detailer, and due to his tenacity and perseverance, he is poised to become a formidable force in his market.

*Impetuous:

1. acting impulsively: acting on the spur of the moment, without considering the consequences.

2. done on impulse: done without thought as a reaction to an emotion or impulse.

*Remiss: negligent in the performance of work or duty: careless.

* Heedless, oblivious, nonchalant, slipshod, lackadaisical.

How about a: "run-on-word" (if there is that sorta thing)?!? :D

The: remissness-of-"good product stewardship"-from-an-impetuosity-inclined-detailer produces horrific results.

Agreed. I always look forward to sy's threads and posts and have learned a few things to boot.

Good posting, even though I had to bing 'stewardship'. :)

A "new word of the day" for 08.05.2012:

Adiabatic

Definition:
1. Occurring without loss or gain of heat
2. Involving a transfer of heat

-It is said that one of the characteristics of 'Coatings-LSPs' is their ability
to cross-link to form an inpenetrable matrix---a shield, if you will---against contaminates.
(And, if formulated to do so...perhaps absorb/reflect UV-rays.)

-I'm just curious to what happens to the external thermal-heat that bears down
upon a 'Coating-LSP', from sources such as emitted by the Sun...
as well as any internal thermal-heat build-up from a vehicle's panels.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

-In other words: Does a 'Coating-LSP' form an "adiabatic-boundary" ?

Thoughts anyone? Thanks...

I tried to put my thoughts into words...wound up a rambling mess. :dunno:

Is it ambiguous, or is it nebulous?

am·big·u·ous/amˈbigyo͞oəs/
Adjective:

(of language) Open to more than one interpretation; having a double meaning.
Unclear or inexact because a choice between alternatives has not been made.

Synonyms:
equivocal - vague - uncertain - doubtful - obscure

He wants to see what they would say so he asks them both the same ambiguous question.

neb·u·lous/ˈnebyələs/
Adjective:

In the form of a cloud or haze; hazy.
(of an idea) Unclear, vague, or ill-defined.

Synonyms:
vague - hazy - misty - dim - foggy - obscure - cloudy

He asked them both the same question, but he was purposely nebulous in his wording as he was interested in how each man would reply.

Hi Dave...

-Thanks for your "new word" choices!!!

-I believe they could be interpreted (or even apropos?) to:
I. My previous "adiabatic" posting (#908)
II. As well as to my "new word of the day" for 08.07.2012...:)

For 08.07.2012's "new word of the day":

Amorphous

Definition:
1. Lacking a definite shape; formless; unstructured
2. No recognizable character or type
3. Anomalous
4. Not made of crystals.
5. Vague; Nebulous

The above "adiabatic-process/boundary" question I posed for all interested
AGO forum members, may have been amorphously presented.

Also...and...BTW:
-Glass, amber, rubber, and polymers are examples of amorphous substances.

A "new word of the day" for 08.08.2012:

Scission

Definition:
1. The act, or instance, of cutting/severing
2. Division/dividing
3. Fission/splitting
4. (My favorite definition): Cleavage (No, not those!)…
It’s the breaking of a chemical bond in a molecule,
to 'produce' smaller molecules or radicals.

-It probably won’t be the scission of Mike's and Stacy’s wedding cake…that may cause such a stir;
It just might be Mr. Phillips: 'bobbing'...for the errant cake-remnants…
From that time-honored wedding reception event: "Smash-Mouth-Cake".

(Not really...He's too much of a Gentleman...That's for sure!!!)

The detailer, with new Flex in hand, found that the scissioning of multiple layers of rids and swirls left him with a nebulous finish on his paint film surface; therefore seeking guidance from fellow Autogeekians.

08.09.2012's "new word of the day":

Concupiscence

Definition:
-Strong desire in general; Appetite
-Improper or illicit desire
-An ardent desire; Lust
-Morbid carnal passion
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Being subscribed to AGO forum member Klasse's below thread...
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...here-like-me-far-rubbing-their-cars-alot.html
...Has brought to light, at least in my viewpoint, that some folks enthusiastically are declaring
their concupiscenceness to an object that cannot reciprocate in a like manner.

-Hopefully no one will ever go to this length:

Thanks for this great thread. I will be adding two words a day to catch up. This is awesome.

That would be fantastic!!...And:
Thanks! for your interest in the "new word of the day" thread.

BTW...WeLendMoney...Now that's a rather unique AGO forum name. :props:

We definitely need a: 'Financial Institution Professional' (?)...A:
Usurer, if you will...aboard the AGO train!!

Just out of curiosity..What's the interest rate for any loans that you issue?
(Hopefully they're not in the "loan shark/pawnbroker-territory". ) LOL

A "new word of the day" for 08.10.2012:

Gullible

Definition:
1. Easily deceived or duped.
2. Unsceptical; unwary
3. Easily taken in or tricked
4. Fleeceable
5. Green

As evidenced per the following thread:
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/53940-seen-tv-19-99-a.html

-When "surfing" late-night-TV (or even some internet web-sites) no one, especially neophytes to Detailing,
should gullibly fall victim to thieves that prey on unwary "travelers".

New to detailing and detailing websites, the unitiated fall victim to concupiscent marketing of copycat products. Gullibility in most instances can be linked to buget constraints as 'miracle' products are usually at a lower price point than their proven counterparts. Culpability also has its roots in the perceived cost/time savings factor for those wanting 'claimed' results without putting forth the labor necessary. It would seem that 'Madison Avenue' has much influence for those that don't follow a particular brand, or regimen, as perscribed by detailing gurus.

08.11.2012’s "new word of the day":

Longanimity

Definition:
1. Calmness in the face of suffering and adversity.
2. Long-suffering.
3. Disposition to bear injuries patiently.
4. Patience; endurance.
4. Good-natured tolerance of delay.

It would seem that 'Madison Avenue' has much influence

It’s not that: "I wear my heart on my sleeve"…

-But I do find myself having empathic concerns for those who anxiously await the arrival of
"new detailing products" that, heretofore, had been cleverly Madison Avenue’d by these
aforementioned "new detailing products'" *marketers---no matter their guise, or not...
Only to witness their longanimity...along with their hopes of obtaining such new detailing products...
be dashed, nay crushed---as though they are modern-day sailors being beckoned by:
the "alluring-*Sirens" call, only to become shipwrecked upon rocky coasts…
when discovering some of these "new detailing products" are only available to/for: "Certified Professional Detailers".

-Forbearance in vain? Indeed!!...IMO.
