Been lurking here for a while now. I absolutely love and enjoy reading all about the member's work on their vehicles and their customer's vehicles.
I've been detailing my own cars for many years - started out with keeping it clean and shining the tires, then interior detailing with Armor All. Moved on to Meguiar's cleaner wax a couple times a year hand. The last few years it's been 2-3x per year using the Meguiar's Deep Crystal 3-step products by hand. Really enjoyed the work and the results.
Now, based on my reading here and seeing a great deal, I bought the Griot random orbital and am just now starting to think about the rest of the materials I need.
I've got an '08 Xterra Off-Road that I'm looking forward to using this machine on. It will be the first time I use clay and a machine to clean, polish, and wax.
I also hope to get a 3" backing plate and pads to do the glass which is just in terrible shape with watermarks and even some etching.
I'll also be looking forward to taking care of some nasty touch-up areas that someone did on this truck - it's almost like they took a paint brush and brushed it on. I actually think it's a prime opportunity to try wetsanding for the first time.
Look forward to reading, learning, posting good questions, and hopefully contributing down the road.
Cheers!
