Night detailing

i do overnight details for some customers... they drop it off at like 9 or 10pm and pick it up in the morning

Garage open, lights off, 2 halogens shining on the paint and some acdc in the background is the only way I know how to get perfect paint. I love polishing in the dark one section at a time until the paint is perfect and the sun comes up to reveal swirl free paint.

I do this about once every 4-5 months. Start the wash and clay about an hour before sunset and finish the car about an hour before sunrise.

I'd like to try it some day, but chances are I'd end up getting a noise complaint from the neighbors.

I do..but mainly because I have a Mom with Alzheimer's and a blind Dad..so at night is the only time I can do the bulk of the work. Has its advantages with not having to fight the sun/heat..but sucks having to drag lights/equipment out..and then back in a few hours later..just to do it again the next day.

Agreed. Love polishing at night. :dblthumb2:

Night details for me started when I got cholinergic urticaria!

I couldnt even get out during the days as sun exposure would lead to body temp shootup and urticaria!

So I detailed at dusk and after sunset. Now that my problem is resolved, I still like to detail at that time as the car's paint is also cool to touch and easily workable!

YAY, i'm not alone....lol i have 3 sets of hologen lights.

I usually do most stuff during the day, but if I cant sleep and the car is in the garage, you bet I'm down there doing something!

well I'm off to do one right now. Black bimmer....cousin's car about to be pamper...lol

I do some detailing at night, but most of mine is done during the day.

If I'm doing a paint correction on a weekend I typically will work until 1-2am to ensure the job is done.

I do, especially during the Summer when the days are 140 degrees. Its very peaceful for me to work during the early a.m. hours. My mind really gets to wandering then...

Back when I did used car dealers, we would roll 24/7 :buffing:

If I have something to work on through the week I have to wait until my daughter goes to sleep, somwhere between 8 - 9pm and then I get started. I typically work until midnight, clean up, go to work the following day and pick back up that night.

As to detailing, along with most other aspects of my daily/nightly activities, my wife likes to point out to me that I'm still "In the Dark"! :D

Ya I am a night polisher too. I love to have the car totally prepped then grab a few cold ones and have at it. I have been known to polish until 4am grab a few hrs sleep then finish the car in the morning.

That is about the only time I have. Work keeps me plenty busy during daylight. Go to the garage and detail with a few cold brews to wind down.

I've been known to. ;)

I tell them that it takes a serious hardcore detailer to do a black vehicle at night. lol Typically I try to get things done in the daytime since I like checking my work in the sun, but I've got a couple clients who leave their vehicles with me overnight and pick them up in the morning, so I'm forced to do it at night. If you have the right lights then it isn't really much different than doing it during the day, actually. You do look just a tad bit crazier to your neighbors when they go for their evening stroll at 10:30 PM and see you in your garage polishing away. lol
