No lying. Let's be honest.

My roof is 9 feet in the air, it gets waxed once a year, dgaf.

It comes downs to this do what you feel is right for your customer. As long as your customer is happy with the car.

Who mentioned anything about skipping?? At least Im upfront about not using a buffer on the roof. How often does someone call it a full detail and they dont even extract the carpets?? or better yet clean the door jambs. These are all ad ons to most detailers and for me to take the risk of getting on the roof ( to those who claim they can do the entire roof using a "platform" I call BS on that).

You cannot put even pressure on the polisher by using one hand. You litterally have to crouch on the roof to get that accomplished on a big SUV.

...You did, remember?

All of these replies about "Quality over Quantity" and I never skip the roof of an SUV sounds like a bunch of bs to me.

How often? I don't know, probably as often as there are hack detailers to legitimate ones and then some.

I'm 5'11", first correction I ever did, I did the roof of an '06 Honda Pilot (with the ridges) using one of these:
2_Step_Ladder.jpg

Wrap any area of the ladder that could touch the paint with a microfiber towel, work from the middle of the roof to the edge, section by section. It's hell on your shoulders, at least for your first few hours behind the machine, but it gets the job done.

If it's your own personal vehicle do what you want, but if your customer pays for a 1 step or a paint correction and you're doing sedan and other regular vehicle roofs, what makes it okay to skip an SUV roof? Because it's harder work? Disability and risk of personal injury I understand completely, I'm not questioning you alone but everyone else who replied in a similar matter. I really don't get it.

Yeah it's something I tend to dread but usually tend to get to it if i have nothing better to do.

Well if you can't do the roof does that mean you will charge less because you didn't do paint correction on the roof?

I think the roof is pretty important and needs to be polished and wax especially if they client is coming in for paint correction. That's where I get a lot of bird droppings and etching. I certainly would want it to be all consistent with the rest of the car after paying for paint correction.
