In the process of doing the initial correct/protect on a new Mineral White BMW using my PC 7424XP. In the past I've been very happy the 105/205 combo with the KB method but decided to expand my horizons with the new car.

The main issue I have is on the gloss black trim on the B pillar trim (NOT the actual window trim, the ~3" wide plastic trim that is painted gloss black). It's the only place on the car where I can see any micro marring (only evident with an LED flashlight), and the Reflect Polish seems to have no effect.

My technique so far:

Priming the pad heavily (as in KB method), the 2-3 pea size drops
Spread at speed 1-2
45sec Polish at speed 4-5 with medium pressure and slow hand movement (keeping the pad spinning)
30sec Reduce speed to 3 and minimal pressure (try to maximize pad spin speed)

Am I using too much polish? Wrong technique? Or am I just expecting too much from the Reflect and PC?

I have some Sonax Perfect Finish and other pads to try, but I figured I'd ask the experts before stepping up to something more aggressive.

Are you aware of the difference between M105/205 and Reflect: diminishing vs non-diminishing abrasives?

Personally: I don't ever prime my pad that way with a diminishing abrasive polish. It's the same reason why I will always use a flat pad when using these types of polishes.

I personally love Reflect.

Let me ask you this--did you have any issues wiping Reflect off?

Sounds like it's not getting worked enough. Changing processes to learn diminishing abrasives was hard for me, but now that I've learned a few brands and products I prefer them over non-diminishing. Call me crazy.

I cannot speak for Reflect as I have never used it personally, but I have researched it and if used properly is an amazing product. Try and work it a little more.

Try even lower speed

I have similar black plastic on the rear pillars of my Yukon....it is finicky

The good news is they are so soft, they will have towel marks within a month

I am testing CQuartz UK on half of one pillar to see if it helps

With Reflect you need to work it longer then most once it's work down its great.

Yes, I do know the difference between the types of polish, but I'm not exactly sure how I need to modify my technique to account for it.

No issue removing the reflect.

Ok good...as others have mentioned; Reflect has a long work time, so not working it long enough could be your issue.

I also don't prime my pad like described when working with HD polishes or diminishing polishes.

Try what allenk4 said earlier--lower the speed of your machine and work it much longer. I too have the same pillars and I haven't had an issue with Reflect or HD Polish.

To clarify...

Are you saying that M-105/M-205 are DAT or SMAT?

Reflect does require "technique"

However, do not prime the pad. Less is more with Reflect.

It'll produce great results if you get it down. However, I like using HD Polish much more. Doesn't require much technique and leaves a great finish!

Bam! There you have it.

I also find Reflect with a shorter working time compared to menzerna sf4000

I agree that you do not prime the pad with Reflect. You also don't mention what pad your using, as that can make a difference also. I tend to find myself using a blue (buff & shine) pad most of the time with Reflect.
