Not sure about Duragloss #501?

just mixed and applied 501/601/105 today for the G35 after it's weekly wash. i used a flat white LC pad on my PC 7424. used a foam applicator pad in the tight areas.

it went on well with the PC. applied thin of course and did about 3 passes each panel. had great cleaning ability. after applying, i wiped down the rims and applied the mixture to them as well. after which i removed the mixture from the paint and then the rims. some of the sealant was tough to remove and there was a little bit(not much) of dusting from it being dry. im guessing these areas were where i had too much product on the pad.

After wiping the rims i applied DG AW to the car to make the paint pop and also to ensure i removed completely all the sealant.

i just ran some errands in the truck, leaving the car in the garage. i got home and walked by the car, of course checking it out, and thought 'what is that smell?!' 501/601/105 smells GREAT! i wanted to lick the car jk of course. my wife walked by and said it smelled sweet. lol

anyways, i mixed 501/601/105 at 50%,25%,25% if anyone is wondering. i will keep you all posted on the durability.
Maybe my math is wrong but you want 601 to 1:4, you have 1:3

makes sense! oh well. looks like my mixture has 25% 601. should be bonded real well.

This is a very interesting thread. I've never tried a Duragloss product before.

I think I might have to give them a try!

:props:

I have no intentions of mixing 501 & 105, they serve 2 different functions in my mind but more power to you guys if it works for you. And regarding the slickness, wait until the next day and you will notice a different feel to the paint, more of a silky feel. Aqua Wax however provides the slickness that most other sealants give.

I was only commenting on correctness of the ratio of the mix. I have never tried mixing 105 and 501.

You can't lick it if you use 1:3 :)

DARN! lol

been a while since math class i guess, i was thinking fractions not ratios. oh well. i'll mix it correctly whenever i get this batch used up.

Thanks for sharing the follow up. It's one thing for guys like Richard and I to recommend it; it's quite another to have people share their experiences once they have tried it. Makes us feel good that you guys are satisfied with what we recommended!!

yes sir! if i have questions about this product i will be sure to message you Ricky since u seem to be the Godfather of this product line =)

it looks like rain tomorrow so it looks like i will get the G35 wet tomorrow. i will see if i have time to get some beading shots in.

I just ordered some DG 601,501,105 from AG and can't wait to try a 1/2/2 mix. Thanx for all the feedback.

Just be patient with it. It will be smooth and silky at first but the next day for some reason this stuff just really sets up. Did you not order Aqua Wax too? PM me your address and I'll get some out to you.

so... for a 601/501 or 601/501/105 mixture.. would be
(in ounces?) 1:4 or 1:2:2 respectively.

This is what I do and I recommend it b/c it works. Do 2 separate steps.
First step:
601/501 in a 1:4 ratio
Apply to whole car and remove when get to the end as long as it passes swipe test

You can now immediately follow with:
Step Two:
601/105(or 111) again in a 1:4 ratio
Apply to whole car and remove when get to the end as long as it passes the swipe test.

Tried and true method. Richy approved, hehehehhee.

Can you perhaps hint me on actual amounts? ratios were not my best thing...

If you are just doing 1 car, you won't need 5 oz of mixture, so mix less. If you don't use it up , it will turn from watery to paste.
Go to the dollar store to get a small bottle just for this DG mixture.
