This low mile, black Z06 Corvette arrived in need of a detail for the upcoming Corvettes at Carlisle Event. So our goal was to make sure the paint was as flawless as could be, making sure all defects are gone and maximum gloss and depth achieved. With that said, there were a good deal of scratches/swirls and such that needed to be removed. As well as a debadging of the trunk and removal of some old wax in edges and jams. Needless to say, this very loud Corvette was prepared to shine!

Products used:

Meguiar’s M105 + Purple wool pad on rotary

Menzerna SIP + Orange pad on PC

Menzerna 106 + White pad on PC

Chemical Guys Citrus wash

P21S paint cleanser

P21S polishing soap

P21S TAW

Chemical Guys wheel cleaner

Meguairs Super degreaser

Sonus Ultra fine green clay

CG maxi suds and ONR mix as clay lube

CG 5050 wax

Rejex sealant for wheels

On to the pictures!

Very nice! The owner of this Corvette is very lucky to have access to your services for such fine correction work :dblthumb2:

Great Job.

Love to see your work as cars always look fantastic.

There is nothing like black paint to reflect (pun intended) all of your hard work...and a 'Vette at that.

I was drooling when I saw the title stating 800 hp, then saw a great transformation on the paint, but no motor pics!!!!!!!! I'm gonna go cry :( great work on the paint though!

Man, you do some damn good work! I always look forward to checking it out.

I have one to work one and hope to use a similar process. What was your process with rotary and purple pad?...RPM, how many passes. Thanks.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the kind words and knowing you look forward to my posts! I will be making more very soon.

Great job Oakes! How many hours did that take you?

I believe about 15 hours were spent on this one in total. Thank you!

On a Makita rotary, 105 and Purple LC pad at speed 2-2 1/2 did the trick, some spaces required a second or third pass.

I want to also add that it depends on what year the Vette is, pre-2002 the paint is SIGNIFICANTLY harder on these cars. Chevy changed their solvents and process for the last few years of the C5 just before the C6 came out with has the current softer paint.

:iagree: You have that Vette ready to turn heads at Carlisle.

Very nice work on the Vette. I did one of those recently and know that the paint is very hard. Great job!
