I have a question that I could not find answered in this forum so forgive me if this has been answered hundreds of times before, as I am new here. I went to take out my porter cable 7424xp polisher and I found oil all on the outside housing of the polisher and a little puddle on a plastic bag that I was storing in the box with the polisher. Is it ruined? I used it once in January and now finally have the time to use it again, so it has been stored for about 9 months now. I had it laying on its side. What did I do wrong? Thanks for any help!

same thing happened to me except i didnt use it for about 3-4 months. i just wiped off the oil and used it as normal but still curious to see if anybody knows whats going on.

Never heard of this happening, curious to see the responses.

I dropped mine pretty hard right on the housing one day. Funny thing is...was that I was trying to figure out a way to keep the plastic cover over the housing without coming off, cause I pulled the handle off which holds it on.

Long story short...after I dropped it, it bent the housing and locked the plastic cover into place. But the housing was separated a bit and exposed the grease. I was afraid it would leak out...but it hasn't.

same thing happened to my PC. i didnt use it for about 2 weeks and there was oil coming out the side near where the handle would connect. there was a little dime size pool of oil in the metal bin where i store it. it seemed to run fine so i didnt worry about it.

my PC is less than a year old, so i figured it was excess oil from the manufacturer. i see a lot of people experienced this.

Thanks for the replies; that makes me feel better. Sounds like it isn't too big of a deal.
