Wow, I didn't notice this thread until today...what a flashback.
These were the days when Simonize was the serious compound for paint, some shops would advertise "Simonize treatments here". These days I don't even know if they are in business. It would be like "Mother's" fading into the background nowadays. We considered Raindance and Meguiars to be expensive stuff and my father splurged at Pep Boys once to try it out(though I was the person who applied it!)

Post away! Some of us enjoy seeing the old long-forgotten products once again. Brings back arm-numbing memories of the 60's and 70's when the mantra was "effort equals results"

After reading the threads on the new hydrophobic coating, maybe we should start saving all our bottles of current-day products. If this stuff ever gets perfected as a gloss-enhancing paint coating, the days of actually rubbing something into your paint to repel the elements may be ancient history. :buffing:

Its surprising how much of this stuff is available on Ebay, LOL.

Great stuff BudsJLM!! Glad this thread got brought back up. I feel its very important as a detailer in the age of restore products and Nano sealants,to know where all the madness started.LOL Ill get some more pics up. went to a few shows over the summer and picked up some new items.

BillyJack your on point,I have one empty bottle of everything I have ever purchased from when I started 25 years ago!! My wife isnt too thrilled about it. But my work buys her sparkley things. Complaint ends there. LOL

HeavyD: Love your collection. As soon as I figure out how to upload pics, I'll post mine from that era.
Flannigan: How do you get such vivid pics on a white background?

Simoniz Paste Wax was supposed to last 6 months but it didnt. It did last longer then anything else . It gave a very high gloss. When I was a kid I used it on my bicycle, and as I got older I used it on my dads car . It was hard to use unless you wiped it off really fast, you applied it to small areas. Simonize also made a liquid cleaner that was very good but a lot of people cleaned the paint with Dupont #7 cleaner polish which also was very good.

Even harder to use than Simonize was Blue Coral. But Blue Coral seemed to shine better and last longer. It took the better part of an afternoon working in the shade and working up a sweat to get a Blue Coral shine.

Car Brite Spray 'N Shine and wax bottle from the 1990's on the old logo -- never used

Keep em' coming guys, anyone remember Finish 2000 or 2001?

I used to use Rain Dance with nice results. Great for water beading but not a great detailing wax.

For me it was Nu Finish in the mid-90's. Used that stuff on my car and my bike!

A few years later I moved on to 1 Grand Blitz wax.

All of those products can still be bought today, but have slipped into obscurity or been passed up by other products.

Very cool thread!

My father had Rain Dance in the can that I started waxing with. I used it on his 75 Malibu Classic wagon, followed by his 85 Celebrity wagon, then I used it on my 77 Cutlass Supreme. I didn't know there was any other kind of car wax. I know it was always one hell of a workout for me!! Not sure if he still has the can laying around anymore, I'll have to look next time I visit.

He just bought a Subaru Outback earlier this year, so I tossed a bottle of 845 his way and said, I don't care what wax you are using these days, but you are using this from now on... Best part is, if he runs out, he can go get more at the Collinite factory that is now about a 45 minute drive for him!

I was about 12.years old when I started keeping my dads car clean.
Turtle Wax was all I knew about so that's what I had to use.

Good shine.
Hard to apply and very hard to remove. Lol
It was a gold Olds with a 350 Rocket.

Been detailing ever since but I no longer use TW:)

Great thread:)
