This Corvette was special ordered when new and delivered to the Corvette Museum in Kentucky where the owner picked it up. The Vette is one of only 3 to be produced with this paint color and the only 2008 model with an all black interior.

The owner was referred to me by the owner of a previous detail I completed. Last year the Vette was detailed by a local shop and he wasn’t happy with the results. I asked him what he would like completed and his response was “I will take whatever you think is best.” Those are words every detailer likes to hear and a boost of confidence knowing you are trusted with such a nice car.

Overall the car was in pretty good shape. Typical swirls and light scratches, rids, scuff marks and surface contaminants. One of the biggest issues I faced was cleaning up the mess the last detailer left behind – splatter on the plastic trim, dried wax on the tail lights and every other crevice of the car.

Process:

Weather was not in my favor as it was cool and cloudy. All work was completed indoors but before pictures were difficult with the sun hiding behind the clouds.

Wheels and wells:
Wheels cleaned with Meg’s Wheel Brightener, Wheel Woolies and Boars Hair brushes
Tires cleaned with Meg’s Super Degreaser and Carrand Deluxe Tire & Bumper Brush
Wells cleaned with Meg’s APC

Wash:
2BM with Optimum Car Wash
Dried with Master Blaster and Uber MF towel

Decontamination:
Clayed with Nano skin fine wash mitt
Smaller areas hit with Nano skin fine sponge

Correction:
Rupes 15 MKII with GG Fast Correcting Cream on GG Boss MF Pads
Rupes Rupes 75 Mini with B&S Orange Foam

Polish:
Rupes 15 MKII and Rupes 75 Mini with CarPro Reflect on CarPro Gloss Pads. I love these pads and polish, they bring the finish to another level.

LSP:
Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

Miscellaneous:
Tires dressed with CarPro Perl
Leather cleaned with CarPro Inside
Interior Plastics and vinyl cleaned with Einszitt Cockpit Premium
Interior protected with WG Vinyl & Rubber Protectant
Leather conditioned with Pinnacle Leather Conditioner
Wheels polished with Optimum Metal Polish
Exhaust Tips cleaned with P21S Polishing Soap and finished with Optimum Metal Polish

Thanks for looking! I really enjoyed this detail and the customer was happy which is what counts the most.

Great work. What is the color's name? I think Corvette should offer total custom colors. I think, Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini will paint any custom color. GM could charge a huge premium. And who doesn't like lime green, purple, or pink Corvettes.

Very nice. You mean to tell me another someone else who does details actually left wax in the cracks like that? SMH.

Hey cool story about that car (museum delivery and one-of-a-kind interior). I had to note the irony in your leftover wax pictures of the lenses, that the lenses are made by Visteon. Here's arguably the flagship GM vehicle, with the lenses made by Visteon, the former parts division of Ford, rather than Guide or whatever division of GM made lenses.

The Vette is one of only 3 to be
produced with this paint color

You really had your work cut out for you...
However: The vehicle turned out GREAT :props:

Isn't that the Corvette paint color that's
better known as "old man red"? LOL

I'm on my 25th vette so far and have everything dialed in right down to the lower plastic panel, nobody dresses that for some reason.

There's is a red vette coupe on all vette.net that I had to wet sand the whole entire car starting at 1000 grit.

Nice job. What did you use to prep the paint prior to using PBL?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Nice job. What did you use to prep the paint prior to using PBL?

I forgot to add that line item... I used PBL Paint Cleansing lotion - applied with my PC and blue LC CCS pad.
