One step correction

Hum... M205 is a finishing polish... Can it really remove all the swirls and scratches? It's very low on the aggressiveness scale sitting at 4. If you use a white pad you are not adding much cutting power either since it's a polishing pad.

What percentage of defects do you estimate you are leaving behind after a one step with M205 on a typical car?

No, for me a 1-step polish is not suppose to remove all swirls or scratches, I don't tell customers it will either. The 1-step polish cleans up a decent amount of light scratches and swirls but usually does not take out much of the deeper stuff. Most of the customers I get just want clean/shiny and protection, that's what they get. I would say only about 10% of the people who call me want full correction and only a percentage of them want to pay for that. My 2-3 step correction package removes all swirls and most scratches, not my 1-step. If my 1-step did, no one would be interested in the latter. I do get more aggressive if the paint system allows.

M205 is great for 1 step corrections. See some examples I posted previously in this thread. M205 can be used with black pads (softer paint), white pads and orange light cutting pads for great results in just 1 step. I use it very often.
 
Mf finishing pad with m205 on the rupes is an amazing one step. Cuts great and also finishes great!
 
Ok makes sense. I always thought of a 1 step correction at being a 80-85% correction. That is why did not know if M205 would be up to delivering that. Are my standards too high?

If it can stop raining tomorrow, I plan on trying M105 and M205 with mineral oil as a pad primer like I read in a thread a few days ago. If it can solve the problem of it flashing super fast and dusting like crazy, I will be very happy! At the same time I have to try side by side test pannels with 8 section passes at very slow arm speed vs 16 section passes at moderate arm speed. Basically I will try to move the polisher twice as fast and work the area the same amount of time. If everything goes well the area with slow arm speed will have better correction and it will prove my theory wrong. If not I will be happy to be right ;) But with Mike's experience I am expecting to be wrong despite my gut feeling and the logic behind the reasoning. Can't wait to try it ;)
 
Car I worked on today was white so it wasn't really ideal to do the test... next week that will be my priority ;)
 
And dude, a law degree is going to make you WAY more money. We have expenses. Detailing is a lifestyle business. Its extremwly difficult to make more than 100k per year detailing. I enjoy my job and im comfortable but im definitely not getting rich...no boss though. You cant put a price on that. Man it felt good when i turned in my resignation and went full time on detailing!
 
I am a full time college student. I Detail because I am very passionate when it comes to Detailing.

I also resigned from my banker job, it wasn't for me. I was making really good money but I hated it.

When it comes to Detailing, I just love doing it, i am very passionate about it and money comes second,
