So would you say the D151 does a better job than this? The Meguiars all professional cleaner wax I have been using! So, just to be clear, the D151 is an all in one cleaner wax?
I was looking for a good all in one cleaner wax to use on my customers vehicles. I like the fact D151 comes in gallon size. I just buy some extra 16 ounze bottles and a pump for the gallon size to fill smaller bottles.
Yes!
Although they are indeed similar, as 'Guz' said, 151 has more cut. There is nothing wrong with having both in your arsenal, as sometimes you might not want the extra cut. Although.... it's easy to just go with a lesser cut pad.
D151 will finish down really well, and leave an acceptable gloss (and protection too boot). As I mentioned before, it's easy to just use it, then top it with any of your favorite LSP's. Meguiar's M21 2.0 would be one that's very affordable for instance. Now if you REALLY want to ramp up the extra sizzle, clarity, and gloss you can put M21 2.0 on, wait overnight and top it with M26 (even in liquid form) as an amazingly good looking sealant/wax (and an even better value for your money) AND one of a very few 'hybrid's' that has carnauba in it.
D151 offers more correction than M6. I have had good success with Meguiar's white wax as a one step. It's an AIO but uses the same SMAT abrasives that are found in M101. It has decent durability.
Here's a good write up for it.
The power of White Wax
I just used Meguiar's D300 on the new Meguiar's thin burgundy foam cutting disc and that finished LSP ready. The paint on the car I used it on was on the medium side. The same pad finished LSP ready when I had to get a little more aggressive using M101.
:iagree:with D300, it's GOOD!
Over the last couple of years D300 has turned into my favorite SMAT compound out there. In fact the entire Microfiber Correction System line of products (both liquids and pads) have been in my bag since the first time I tried them. Working with D300 is as easy as it gets, (and that cinnamon smell is ohhhh soooo nice).
So you're saying that M101 finished LSP ready with the heavy cutting Megs microfiber pad? Wow, wow WOWWWWWW! That must have been some seriously hard paint.
I've used it with a whole boatload of foam pads, flat, ccs, hybrid, constant pressure, all in both 5½" and 4" as well as all three Meguiar's pads. Only with what'd be considered a finishing pad did I find it coming closer to LSP ready. At that point it's the product doing all the cutting, and it's more about working it just a few passes to get the cut you need, whilst not allowing the abrasive particles to build up (get larger) with spent product and abraded paint.
Actually that's the other side of the sword when working with SMAT products (
especially the ones with heavy cut). They cut GREAT, and can save you a TON of time (
especially doing multi-step paint correction) but if you try and work them a long time like you would with say, FG400 (
which can (and many would argue would NEED to) take 10 passes with ease) you'll end up micro-marring. I'll generally work SMAT products 4, maybe 5 passes, wipe clean, check the results, and if needed go back with clean product for 3 or 4 more passes.
