For those of you that are using the Big Red Sponge for your ONR washes....do you use one bucket or two??

Two. I usually mix up 3 or 4 gallons and leave the sponge in the wash solution. Grit guard in each bucket

Three. :)

Just got the BRS and was overly concerned about the wife's car. Will likely use 2 in the future.

do you leave the sponge in the solution all the time?

Yes. I clean the sponge with APC every other wash just to keep the BRS clean. I make 4-4.5 gallons of ONR solution and wash multiple times with one bucket.

I modified the grit guard in the bucket by cutting an inch off the legs to have access to more of the solution. If you use multiple buckets then it's recommended to have ONR in each of those buckets as well. I will only use two buckets with one bucket being for wheels and tires only.

So if I use 2 buckets, one for rinse, it should have ONR in the rinse bucket?

Yup. At least that is what Yvan states. Something to do with ONR being diluted even more using just a bucket of water for the rinse bucket.

The whole thing with ONR is the fact that the cleaners inside encapsulate the dirt and pull it to the bottom, so just a grit guard will suffice in one bucket. If you use a rinse bucket with just water in it, you're just gonna add in more water everytime since the sponge won't be perfectly dried so by the time you're doing your doors after the roof and the hood, your dilution ratios will be off. Plus with the grit guard, the BRS will just rest ontop of the grit guard while all the dirt is underneath the grit guard so your sponge is safe. It's a pretty good system and you won't swirl up your paint with it unless ya know, you've been using the same bucket of solution for an entire year then I would probably change it out.

Just wondering why the third bucket
I thought it's for the tire and wheels
Then I see no reason because after finishing the car I use the secondary bucket with sulotion for the tire and wheels

So why third bucket if you can use the remaining sulotion in the second bucket for wheels and tires? Maybe there's something I missed

Thank you

One bucket for me too.

I leave my BRS in the bucket of ONR at all times.

I never thought of the diluting part. I wring it out all the way but I suppose a little water drizzle is still left in it.

So with the whole 2 bucket idea in place for me, would D114 in the second bucket rinse the sponge better? I would think yes.

There's no third bucket, I believe he uses one bucket for the paint and one bucket for wheels and tires only.

Also going with the 2 bucket idea in place for you, I don't know if D114 will emulsify the dirt the same way as ONR as that would be the idea, you wring out the sponge in the ONR solution and it encapsulates the dirt from the sponge and you have a clean surface again. If you're alreayd using ONR it's best to just stick with ONR.

Will is correct. 1 bucket for paint and the other for wheels and tires. No third bucket. Since I wash weekly opti clean is all I really need for wheels and tires. Low dust brake pads also helps.

With D114 it's recommended to use two buckets with one bucket being just being water.

I've just started to use BRS with ONR. How long are you guys using a single wash bucket mix of ONR? Couple of weeks? A month?

I'll use up a bucket down to the grit guard after 3 washes. I like the sponge to be as wet as possible.
