What is everyone using for wash media for Optimum No Rinse?

Sponge, MF, wash mitt?

Thanks!
Dan

Im still getting around to making my first order, but from what i have found on this forum is that most people use MF towels and some use the big red sponge. I guess it also depends if you are using a one or two bucket washing method.

one bucket system - MF towels

two bucket system - sponge or wash mitt

I personally use the Sine & Buff Watereless Wash Towels for both washing and drying when using ONR or any other rinseless wash.

Utilizing the Garry Dean method (of never reintroducing a dirty towel into clean water), I can do my entire car with two of these towels folded twice. This essentially gives me eight clean sides to utilize on my surfaces with each towel.

???

Basically what I`m wondering if it should be something different than I normally use w a traditional wash???

I've used grout sponges, towels, MF wash sponges (like The Bone), muppet head (MF chenille). Take your choice, they all work.

^^ this. I use anywhere from 3-8 Eagle Edgeless 16x16 480gsm Korean MF Towels to do my vehicles. Depends on the level of dirt present. I use Uber Rinseless, I presoak so the car is loaded with solution that combined with a very wet rag will push or move the dirt right off the vehicle with ease. Works beautifully with ZERO issues. About to do mine today after a nice drive in the rain yesterday. I can knock out my sedan from start to complete perfection including drying and detail misting in just about an hour.

If you're going to stick with the ONR, all you need is one bucket and one big red sponge. Go look at 'the rag company' youtube page, they have a couple of videos showing how it all works.

I've been doing this for a while now with no issues at all.

I got tired of all the towels. It drives me nuts when the twist and flop and roll ughhh.

Can you tell me how to presoak? Im guessing you apply it with a spray bottle (uber dilute ratio?).

Also, what's detail misting?

I use mf's. Probably 10 to wash and another 8 for drying. I'm not shy about using my towels, and don't mind doing the laundry.

I use multiple microfiber mitts...as many as I think I need. My favorite is the Duragloss but use Meguairs and a few other brands.

I use a two bucket method and fairly generous with the rinseless so gets lots on the ground. I will presoak with a Kwazaar sprayer.

easiest way is a garden sprayer. I have a $19 1Gal baby that I use a lot. In the winter, I use a power sprayer that cost a bit more ($200) total but it gives me garden hose like pressure to blast off dirt and snow, etc.

Detail misting is using either a detail spray or in my case I mix up Uber according to their instructions a bit stronger than for the wash and use it. I wipe the car down with a clean MF rag and mist each panel as I go. Helps ensure I've gotten all the dirt/dust off and leaves a nice gloss and slippery finish.

Big Red Sponge or plush Microfiber mitt work well. I personally use the Big Red Sponge with how many cars I wash per year than a hobbyist.

For pre soaking, use a pressurized sprayer with rinseless solution. Easy peasy.

Great suggestions from everybody! In sold! Big Red Sponge, here I come! Where's Yvan when you need him!

You just have to try a couple different kinds of wash media out and see what fits you best.

I've tried sponges(not the BRS), towels, and a couple of mitts and found the two bucket method with a couple the ultra soft rinseless wash mitts is what I now prefer.

Ultra Soft Microfiber Rinseless Wash Mitt

Not saying it's the best, but it's what I like to use. For me the towels can be a pain. Flopping, scrunching, and what not. Using side by side with my mitt, the towels I've tried felt more grabby.

I'm also not overly obsessive about being as gentle to my paint as some may be with much nicer solid black vehicles while using rinseless. Mine is old and gold.

I no longer presoak, but it surely can't hurt if you're trying to extra cautious.

Two things I think play an important roll in rinseless washing, or washing in general, are:

1. Properly preped and protected paint is much easier to maintain. It feels slicker and is much more enjoyable.

2. Frequent maintenance. It's much easier to remove "dirt" from the paint sooner than later and the less time the contamination has to bond with the paint.

Absolutely.

As soon as I pulled in from wet weather, I would immediately waterless/rinseless lower panels, regardless if it'll be soggy when I go back out later or next day.

How do you use the bone wash sponge for rinseless? Rinse and scrub the bone at the grit guard after every panel?
