Opinions On Chemical Guys?

Lol @ the thought of asking for examples of any CG bashing.... CG's gets automatically bashed about 85% of the time it's mentioned... Everyone knows it's true. BTW, I don't care one way or the other, just stating the truth.

Personally, I feel that most of the reason behind some peoples dislike towards that brand is more about their company image than their actual products.. Although the ridiculous prices on some of their products, along with what seems like them completely ripping off others ideas and overcharging for them sort of ties in..

I also think that there's been a long time bash wagon on Greg.. But to be honest he's sort of grown on me and I respect Greg. Especially for all the unnecessary crap he's had to put up with for so long now. Lol. He's not even anything to complain about...

Call me crazy, but the 1 who I find annoying is Jen. Sure she's hot, but her technique is constant fail in whatever vid she appears in. And she's supposed to be in charge of training or whatever... [I don't keep up with every vid they post] All I know is she oughta know when be sexy and when to look the part of her actual job title. Because it just makes them look bad and certainly not worth the money they try to charge for their products.

In 1 vid they thought it'd look cool to announce how "everyone" that works there has all been buying Teslas... Like ok, thanks for letting us know you're all able to buy $70,000+ cars thanks to overcharging your custumers and providing sub par customer service.
They actually have the nerve to charge for their detailing "classes"
You'd never hear Meguiars do that... But I wonder where they got the idea in the 1st place.. Ehhh that's why I dislike CG's. They don't deserve to get rich on my dime..

Rant over.

The only reason CG's are mentioned at all is because of the connection people made several years ago about them making some other popular brands at the time. Those other brands are all but dead right now, so why would CG's be a viable product line when the boutique's are stale from lack of progression.

I like and use their soaps and I've used their hexalogic pads but I've had some issues with the pads coming apart. They have some cool shirts.

:wow:

Is it the existence of directional-animosity between
modern social constructs like: Nominalism; and,
Evolutionary Psychology...that I'm sensing here ?!?!

The basic gripe with CG, as far as I can tell, is style over substance. When I was first starting this hobby, EVERYTHING I bought was CG and I was on their board as well. As I started to get a little more knowledge (thanks to lurking on here) and would ask questions over there it was always the same adjective riddled response "Super duper, extra badass , rich, wet shine". The won't even tell you the gsm of their towels.
In truth, they have some good products, especially soaps. But there is a lot of overhyped and, dare I say, misrepresented products i.e. V07 is not a spray sealant. It last maybe a week and Jet Seal with last a couple of months...tops.

Good gawd man..... what's going on here??!!Feed back please

Looks like somebody fell in a paint bucket then drove home

It was from last summer in Tahoe. I told my GF to get out and take a picture while I drove through a puddle, but it ended up just being a mucky mud pit. I sank up to my thighs in mud when I got out to try to get unstuck.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone.

I'll be near CG HQ in a couple of weeks so I'm gonna drop in.

I wish their company would be one of those companies where you could pick up any product and know it was the best.

I like what I have from them, but I buy pretty much everything based on reviews, so if I find something comparable but better, I go for that.

Prepare to be underwhelmed by the CG Brick & Mortar in Gardena, CA

If you want a fantastic experience with true professionals, I suggest the Thursday Night Open Garage at Meguiar's HQ in Irvine, CA. Details on Meguiar's Online.

This.👆🏽

It takes about an hour or maybe more to get to Irvine on a typical Thursday afternoon.. At the same time I could be in Gardena in about 7min. from where I live... But the thought of visiting Chemical Guys has never even crossed my mind. They'd probably want to charge me some money just walk in and say hello. Lol.

I won't be down there on Thursday, otherwise I would do that. I'll keep it in mind for some time when I am.

I'd rather visit meguiars.

Chemical Guys has some good things and some really bad thing about the company and products imo

I have tried maxi suds 2, v7 and their foam gun

Maxi suds 2 is excellent but could be a bit cheaper imo.

v7 does work but I dont like it

their foam gun is a rebrand for alot more money-did not know that ahead of time.

Their marketing is terrible imo. Too many buzzwords and overhyped. The quality of the stuff is okay, but I feel that the price and what they really are is either a rebrand or overpriced

I really like v36 and v38; however, I was disappointed in the cutting ability of v32 and v34. Honeydew and citrus w&g are awesome out of the foam gun. I also use nonsense regularily for a variety of cleaning jobs even for stuff around the house. I put two ounces of striper scent on my bissel carpet cleaner and my whole house smelled magical for two days! I think their videos are what give them a bad name especially with the two guys who do the videos now which makes me wonder what happened to Greg who seemed to be the most skilled and the only one I ever saw use a rotary on paint out of all of them.

OP, you've stated several times that you really like the products that you have from CG. Have you tried any others? I found that's where the rubber meets the road. Once I tried other products and was able to compare, the CG items fell short in a lot areas i.e. their sealants, MFT. just to name a few.

That's a brilliant idea on the air freshener in a carpet extractor, I am going to try it. :xyxthumbs:

A majority of my product use has been off the shelf stuff that obviously doesn't compare to CG. Only more recently have I gotten into more pro-grade stuff.

So far I also like M105, HD Speed, HD Poxy, ONR, and GG interior cleaner.

I've been a fan of Sonax and 303 for years so I probably won't be trying any CG wheel cleaners or matte VRP dressings/protectants.

But I guess to answer your question, I haven't tried many competing products to most of the CG stuff that I have.

I see some of you gents weren't too happy with JetSeal.

I haven't tried it myself, but do remember an old test (on an RV?), which it scored pretty high on the endurance test; outlasting many other sealants.

Other than soaps, I haven't been impressed with CG products.

Especially when it comes to price, I think you can get much better products for similar price range

Jet deal I have had great success with, I have applied it to clients, and my next door neighbor at my shop that I maintain, and he's had jet seal on his Van for 10 months. It's good stuff.

Its was fair, but for $55 I expected more. PNS is much cheaper and last longer.
