I have a black BMW and i finally got the finish close to what i want. I was wondering if anyone had some advice with Opti-coat. Would it help me to lesson the scratching when washing (2 bucket method)? I also have a friend that might want it on his black truck but he wants me to try it first on my car. With the prep for the opti-coat would put my car as good as i could get it.

1) Wash with CG's Citrus wash to help remove the wax
2) iron x and clay
3) polish with white pad and M205
4) IPA wipe down
5) Plus the wheels

If you are happy with results than for go it. I would polish again with menzerna 4000 or 4500 on black pad and trying more gloss from paint.

Some things that may influence your decision (or would me) are:

1. Daily driver?

2. Jet Black? / BSM? / Carbon Black?

3. Do you plan on keeping the car as defect free as possible, or is this it for a while?

4. Have you worked with OC before?

I don't think coatings have provided the real world scratch resistance we all kind of expected. They can help for sure. But honestly, I think more is dependent on environment, washing, paint color (defect notice-ability) , and paint hardness.

Daily driver. Yes

jet Black Yes

defect free as possible Yes

Have you worked with OC before? NO

Work in good lighting and slowly apply OC one panel at a time to look for high spots. I used CarPro Eraser instead of IPA for my final wipe down

Do a test spot first like the rear bumper to see if your technique/application was good enough before attempting the rest of your car

Eraser leaves residue.

I just scratched up my OC 2.0 after one ONR was last weekend -- so it's far from immune.

I would go with CQuartz UK over 2.0.

Finally got time ti try Opti-coat 2.0. It was easy to apply but the prep took 6 hours. I put it on heavy but only use but 8 cc's i hope i put enough on?

8cc is plenty. I'm a pro installer and average 6 - 10 depending on vehicle size.

I just did a 2012 camaro ss and I used 6cc of oc. I had a ceiling fan running to speed up drying process. It flashed in a minute

I've used both and will opt for CQUK every time. This is a wetsand, fg400' then 205 and CQUK.....75 days later on my new Vette.

dosent opti-coat last longer or is this a hype

I always thought polyurethane based Opti coat will outlast Sio2 based CQ. I may be wrong.

what is the true life of opti-coat 2.0. what do you tell your customers about the life of the product. opti-coats life of paint ?

I tell me customers depends how they take care of their OC
