Hello all, Im looking to make a purchase of all the things I would need to properly apply Opti-Coat 2.0 20% off is a good deal.

The new truck will be a bright white Ram 3500 that has been sitting in the lot at a dealer in texas.

What I have in my cart:

Optimum Eraser: Fine Grade
Iron X
Optimum Power Clean
Opti-Coat 2.0
Detailers Wheel Cleaner
Optimum Dual Pro Applicator
Optimum Power Clean
Optimum Car wash

Polish, should I be using Optimum Polish 2 or another polish? From my reading using an optimum polish will eliminate the need for the IPA wipe down. Which pads should I be looking at using for this polish.

I do have a flex DA to help out.

Does it look like I would have everything needed to get this properly done?

List looks good.

As far as pads and polish, it depends if the swirls are light or heavy.

Looks good make sure you do an IPA wipe down or CarPro Eraser to remove all polishing oils for proper bonding even though you are using the optimum line. I would still do the wipedown to ensure you get proper bonding.

Thanks for the replies.

As far as the swirls go, I wont know until I pick the truck up. I will make sure that if they do anything its a rinse only.

Would I be pretty safe with the optimum polish 2?

I will also give a wipe down with either IPA or car pro eraser if it will give the best adhesion.

Yes you should be fine with optimum polish.

Better to be safe and do the wipe down then to have any issues.

Ordered a few of each on the pads. I will have some tractors to do in the future so they will come in handy.

Alright I got my giant box in the mail!Im the MAN..and the truck too:dblthumb2:

So I need a plan of attack.

I wash it first with the Car wash mixed with the optimum power clean.

Then do the Iron X

Hit the truck with the optimum eraser. (Is another wash needed at this point?)

Use the Flex with the optimum Polish II

Wipe with the carpro eraser.

Apply opti-coat 2.0.

Does this look like a good plan of attack?

Thanks again guys!

Use ONR or even a damp MF towel to wipe the polishing oils from Optimum Products...you dont require an IPA wipe down between Optimum products and OC...i just use ONR at a wash dilution and everything is a-ok..

You should clay after Iron X.

this is correct....

I am going to give the optimum eraser a shot instead of clay.

I just used OPC 3:1 to get the bugs off, and man does this stuff work great!

Sorry, missed the Optimum part of Eraser.

Perfect! :dblthumb2:

Actually, I's wipe down with 15% IPA instead of Eraser.

Alright what a long day and still not finished!

Here is what I have done:

Wiped some panels with OPC 3:1 that had tire dressing on them. Also wiped the front to get the bugs off (this stuff is amazing)

2 bucket wash with a merino wool mit. Used Opt car wash with some OPC mixed in.

Iron X. Surprised there wasn't much rail dust but it definitely had some purple running. (This stuff does not smell good at all)

Rinsed

Mixed up some ONR wash and wax for some lube for the eraser. Hit the whole truck. (FivePoint.0 I did not see your post until now)

I am done for the night, so that leaves me with the polish then the opticoat. Unfortunately I can not fit my truck in the garage overnight so it will be sitting outside over night.

Should I wipe each panel with some ONR before I get to polishing since its sitting outside?

I was also pleased to not see very many swirls so I think the white pad will do.

As far as opticoat goes can I do the chrome grill/trim/bumper/emblems? Anything that I should not let opticoat touch?

Its alot of work but I am pleased with the results so far:xyxthumbs:

First thing in the morning:buffing:

I would do a waterless wash to clean it up before polishing. As for the opti-coat on those pieces I can't say, I personally skipped the chrome and emblems and only did painted surfaces and windows except the windshield.

I would definitely hit it again with ONR before polishing. After polishing, re-wash with optimum car wash to remove any residual polish, do an IPA wipe-down, then hit it with opti-coat. Opti-coat is safe for anything on the exterior of the vehicle.

If your ONR has wax as you stated, you cant rely on it to clean the surface after polishing. A damp MF would be better and CarPro Eraser better still!
