Hello all -
Been lurking for a few months and learned a lot here. Finally posting with a question...
Last weekend I completed polishing my car and applying OptiCoat 2.0.
I am concerned, however, with the Opti-Coat. I am confident it is applied correctly as I have fantastic water beading on the entire painted surface of my car which I did not before the IPA wipe down after polishing. I also have one small spot where it is a little thick that I must clean up where I crossed onto a competed panel when applying. I used between 6 and 7 cc for my Audi S4.
I parked my car Thursday night and came back to find a giant bird poop on the hood. I washed it off yesterday (Friday) only to find it had etched already.
I was under the impression that Opti-Coat was impervious to such a contaminant. The attached photo illustrates the damage. I have since used a light polish and white pad to take nearly all of the etching off but I believe I will have to recoat this section with Opti-Coat.
Am I under a mistaken impression - that is to say should the Opti-Coat have protected against this bird poop? Or did it and it requires a polish and recoat to properly clean up?
