I'm seriously thinking about opticoating my 2005 TL since the paint is so soft.

1) I've heard you can't use wax or sealants with OC. Is it that you don't have to use them or that they just don't stick to it? They don't change the appearance at all?

2) I'm always doing waterless washes since I live in an apartment building and it does a number on my paint. How does OC react with quick detailers?

3) Does anyone want to trade me the remainder of their OC syringe? Shoot me an IM

I guess my dilemma is that I love washing, waxing, quick detailing my car but the Honda paint is so soft I can't take the swirls. Any advice is much appreciated.

I told you, I'm just gonna change it to "chicken lover" and be done with it.

(1) Nothing will stick to the OC(not for long anyways)
(2) It's fine to use WW,DS on OC
(3) None for trade.I have a tube of the "New Version OC" on the way but won't be trading any. With the BlackFriday sales, you can pick some up for a good price.

What is the deal with the new version? I've heard about it, but can't find the details. I have a tube of 2.0 I bought a couple of months ago, but chickened out on applying.

The "New version OC" has even longer working time(more user friendly in helping knock down high spots,so it's less prone to staining). Also it is layerable.

Very cool, thanks. I'd buy the updated version once AG has it. I'm not in a hurry, since recently going with the BFWD and Collinite 845.

they should come out with a version that waxes and sealants would cling too for obsessive people like me.

I really don't know how important the longer working time is. I swapped to OG about 2 syringes back and I really can't say that I noticed much difference between it and OC. Just as easy to work with as OC.

I've had the new label version (layerable) for about a month(sourced in Australia), so evidently it has been around for quite awhile. Whether that is also true for OC I'm not sure. However, it looks like AG have it because Nick was using it in this review.

Just to add to what IID said: The longer work time refers to the pro version that was updated at the same time...you probably won't see any difference with 2.0.

What is the scope on the layering ability of this "new" stuff? Can it be layered over 2.0? How long between layering? ...? I was under the impression the product could not be layered.

Recent formula improvements allow layering of the new version over its self; Not previous applications of previously released versions.

Chris, is there going to be any elaboration on the changes to OC/OG? When OC 2.0 came out, IIRC it was stated that the only change in creating OC 2.0 from the original OC was a change in the carrier solvent.

Now you've stated that you've changed the resin, as well as the carrier for OG, which brings up a whole slew of questions. Is the durability the same? Does the fact that OC will now stick to itself mean that other things will stick to it better as well? Does this "stickiness" mean that toppers (such as QD's/LSP's) can be successfully used to provide tactile slickness to OC/OG?

What differentiates OC and OG now if OG no longer has the shorter flash time "that pro detailers need to increase throughput"?

It will stick around a little while. Probably enough for your purposes as much as you wax.

Problem is you would be temporarily and partially compromising one of it's key benefits. OC, CQ, and other coatings stay cleaner than wax and wash easier than wax. I don't think you will compromise the washing portion at all but the staying clean you will. Dust and dirt will stick to the car more than if it's just OC. If it were me I wouldn't let the fear of not being able to wax stop you. Wax if you want or use an inorganic spray to top it with. The one AG sells is Reload. This product acts like a coating as far as it's ability to stay clean.

I'm also curious if the new layerable version will be more wax/sealant friendly.

I'm unsure of the version of OC 2.0 I have. While not using it on the paint I did put it on the glass and wheels. Yesterday was the first time I've washed the car since applying the sealannts. There was as much dust on the wheels and it still required OPC with the same amount of agitation to clean. I assume wax will stick better than we believe. One thing to note, even though the same amount of cleaning was required, the beading on the cleaned wheels was impressive to say the least.
