I prepped the paint with WG PPE to make sure the surface was free of any LSP's. Just to be cautious, I followed with an 35% IPA wipedown. This truck sits outside 24/7, and is driven here and there. Optimum claims UP to 5 months protection. I rinsed with water 30 minutes after application. If this wax can hold up for 2 months, I will use it exclusively on all cars that I polish/detail because it will save me a ton of time, and so easy to use. I will post a follow up in a month.

Left side has no protection............right side has one coat of Optimum Car wax

Mark,

Is the Optimum Wax you used Optimum Spray Wax?

Great test though and I'm looking forward to a month from now! :props:

Good test, can't wait to see the results. Do you think the fact that it got wet pretty quickly is going to affect it's durability?

I called Dr G.(owner of optimum) to specifically ask him about curing time. He said 30 minutes and I'm good to go.

I followed this product on a Patriotic Blue PT Cruiser last summer and it held up pretty good for a spray wax. I'd say 3 months anyway. That car was outside 24/7 so I was pretty impressed with it's durability for an easy to use inexpensive product.

As much as I love OCW it gets finicky on me sometimes in warmer weather.

Looking foward to seeing how this plays out. I mostly use OCW as a topper product and have never used it as a stand alone LSP on customers cars. In my testing I've only gotten a little over a month.

I have found it to last a few months in the spring/summer, never tried it for winter protection.

Edit: this was on a car that is garaged at night but out in the elements all day.

Good to know some of you are seeing a few months with OCW. I think it's gonna be my go to car wax for detailing cars! It will save soooo much time!

I didn't find it to hold up really well to the Florida elements 24x7 (maybe 2 weeks and lots of rain), however, I really like it for door jams and other locations where using a traditional wax is a PITA or could make a mess (by staining rubber door seals, wire bundle boots, leaving residue in rolled or bent panel edges, etc).

I am curious to see how your experience on the hood works out.

Just a heads up on this test, don't use onr to keep the vehicle clean, it will continue to add protection and you will never see a drop in protection, atleast this was what I observed in my testing, ie the side that has no protection will start to bead like the side you waxed.

I thought about that, thanks. I will be using poorboy's spay and wipe to clean which will leave nothing behind. :dblthumb2:

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing some results :dblthumb2:

Great idea with the test :buffing:

I'd be surprised if it lasted 8 weeks in the hot So Cal sun.
