Optimum Car Wax durability test....

I'd be surprised if it lasted 8 weeks in the hot So Cal sun.
I'm not detailing show cars, so 8 weeks is plenty for 1-step polishes(most of my corrections). We'll see what happens with my test. :xyxthumbs:

I have gotten a solid 3 months of great protection here in NC

This was the first time I used OCW, so naturally I'm not too familiar with it. Because it's not your typical paste or thick liquid LSP, does it sacrafice "looks" let's say compared to a Sig Series II type wax?

I've seen nothing but positive comments here about Optimum products. OCW looks like a great candidate to be a both a "go-to" sealant for daily drivers, as well as a great base for a wax LSP.

OCW has been one of my favorite products. It dropped a couple notches in my book once I got my red HHR because I do experience some streaking with it on that color.

That said, in terms of "looks", I would say that it gives up very little to nothing vs. pretty much any other LSP out there. In other words, I think it looks fantastic.

I've never used it as a stand alone product, but rather to maintain the protection of the base LSP and enhance the appearance.

Looking forward to your results regarding the durability.

Thanks, Rob.

I'm very curious about it's durability as well, because I would "like" to use it on every car that I detail. It will save me a lot of time. However, if I only get a month out of it, I'll have to think twice about that.

Billy just a heads up, opt has a sealant out called opti-seal and that is a great base for ocw and other waxes :) both of these products r super easy to use and will give great results

I just took a trip to the Optimum forum, read some of the articles and posts about Opti-seal and I see what you're saying. I've decided my AG order this month will be dedicated to trying out some of the Optimum product line. Damn, my list keeps getting longer!

Hey Mark,

It lasted several months over 1-2 month old DGPS (March-August) on my white bimmer that is garaged. Fuzion went on after that. I'm now trying to get time to strip and reseal the car.

I put my wife's girlfriend into OCW after correcting her C-class Mercedes in June. It's all she uses and reapplys about 1x per month. The car stays in beautiful shape. I will help her clay later this spring after the rains and she will be good to go again with the OCW.

Look forward to your results.

Happy New Year!

I'm super happy with Opt Car wax. I never used it before thinking it was more along the lines of a QD but without cleaning properties.

I used this the other day and found it to be super easy to apply and buff. Incredibly slick , and glossy, and just overall a fantastic experience !!!.

I will be using a LOT more of this product.

How does the Pinnacle spray wax compare to this ? in terms of slickness and durability ?

I don't think Pinnacle claims up to 5 months protection with their spray wax like optimum. They advertise it as more of a wax booster.

thanks, i'll just stick to the OPT product than.

any insight on how the opt spray wax reacts as a wax booster or sorts with other manufacturer's wax's ?

Has anyone ever used this on top of another wax after a carwash, and see any clouding or hazing ?

I have used it on top of Auto Glym HD, Natty's Red and Megs Gold Class and it works wonderfully. This is one of my absolute favorite products.

I've only used it as a stand alone LSP. :xyxthumbs:

Uh oh! You're a day late, Mark! ;)

I'm just messing with you. How are things looking a month later?

Funny you mention this, I was going to update the thread. The car was in a front end collision. Nothing toooo serious, but the hood is being re-painted right now, so the durability test can be thrown out the window. :(
