Optimum Car Wax vs Paste wax

I've got a nice bridge you might be interested in....

hmmm....enlight me

If the solvent is strong enough to keep the product workable, don't you think that same solvent will remove the previous layer? There is not one single shred of scientific proof that any product actually layers. In fact there was a huge thread on detailing world

Thickness of wax layers? - Detailing World

Yeah, it needs a new coat of paint and I was just getting ready to install some toll booths, but I need money for another project...

And in that same thread it was proved in a lab that layering does happen.

Where do you see that? I concur that two coats for coverage is fine, but beyond that, I didn't see anything. Layering to me is like stacking slices of cheese on a sandwich.

Its all in the thread you posted.

Wafer 3:
Thickness after first application: 15.9 nm
Thickness after 2nd application: 25.0 nm
Remeasured 24 hours later: thickness = 24.9 nm

The 2nd coat gained thickness... That shows that it "can" be layered.

Why doesn't it keep going up on the 3rd layer? Two coats ensure an even application, not layering. If a product is really layer-able, you would be able to continue.

Thickness after first application: 15.9 nm
Thickness after 2nd application: 25.0 nm

This is a gain of 9.1 nm.

Cool, so I can keep going? How many times do I have to apply to get to 100nm?

Logically speaking, the increase you see in those numbers comes from the proverbial "even coverage" as yakky has been trying to illustrate. We often advise to do 2 layers, as the second layer will ensure we evenly covered the entire vehicle.

This is no longer the case when we go [n+1,2,3.....] assuming "n" is the first layer topped by a second layer.

Yup, by a considerable amount in my experience. DGAW only lasts a few days to a week for me, but I've gotten 1 month from OCW. OCW looks better to my eyes as well.

DG AW is a great drying aid adding protection and helps reduce the chance of marring while drying. I see 2 weeks with AW and a sealant look, while I get about 3 months in the spring and summer with Opt car wax and a more carnauba look

Wow, big difference in durability. Thanks. :dblthumb2:

Thanks @yakky for the tread~~

I think all car wax durability is depend on the environment ~ and consumer~

If you always clean your car every 4~5 days with the right method, I think every wax at the market will last quiet sometime...

Environment does play a role when yr finish "eat" too many dust so when washing will remove quite among of wax~for me,spray wax is a option for daily cars ..

Back to the topic...
Is there any "hard" wax is possible to help "reduce" washing marring for daily cars ? (Not coating system)

Thanks

BR

Someone care to decipher that for me :D
I think what hes saying is dirt and dust sticks to the wax layer and the wax comes with the dirt when the car is cleaned? I'm not sure if its true or not just how I interpreted his post.
