Optimum MF Polish Pad & Hyper Polish

I thought you junked your 3401
Nah. I was just pissed that I was getting better correction with a DA/MF compared to than anything I tried with the 3401. It still does a good job in certain situations.

After this little run I'm going to test a couple different polishes on the Optimum polishing pad to see what kind of 1-step I can come up with. The first being Poli-Seal :xyxthumbs:

I have done two vehicles thus far with the MF pads and Poli-seal and have been very impressed with the results thus far. Took some slight swirling right out and glossed the paint up rather nicely. Fast, effective and easy one step combo IMO. I think you will be very impressed as I was.

Well, since Dr. G told me that he will be introducing the new *sprayable* poli-seal at SEMA, I thought it would be ok to talk about it now. It's called GPS, which stands for glaze, polish, seal. GPS utilizes non diminishing abrasives, unlike poli-seal that uses diminishing abrasives. I've had a sample of GPS for a while, and it's a great AIO!!!!

Sounds good! Have you had a chance to test it's durability?

Don't suppose you've had the chance to play with that for knocking down high spots from (or glossing up an older application of) Opti-Coat, have you?

I tried the Hyper Compound this afternoon (old formula) for the first time. My previous attempts at swirl removal with Hyper Polish on very hard (Alfa) paint resulted in very shiny swirls but nevertheless they were still there.

I would liked to have waited for the new formula but I really wanted to get the job done before winter arrives. So, Hyper Compound ordered and arrived a couple of days later. A quick test of the sprayer to see if it sprays or streams the polish, a nice spray pattern settled on the pad so I was happy as my hyper polish would only spurt the liquid out.

Initial test area went well, kept the speed down just to see how it behaved so it was time for some correction work. Pulled the spray trigger and it snapped. I said something like 'gosh' or 'darn' or possibly something stronger.

Not to be outdone, using the compound liquid in the traditional way on a 3M cutting pad, but spreading it across the pad with my finger I started work. Wow, this stuff is great, easy to use and quick. What I like most about it is it makes me look like a skilled rotary user, within a few passes the swirls were 90% gone. There are still some deeper marks but the paint is quite thin so I am happy to leave them alone.

Finishing off with the Hyper Polish on a 3M polishing pad and then 3M finishing pad and the paint is looking great.

If I get the chance it would be interesting to see how much refinement you can get with the Hyper Compound eg can you use it with a finishing pad? I am not suggesting a compound should work but purely at of curiosity.

In summary, to my mind the products flatter the average or below average user (i.e. me) and no doubt a skilled detailer can do amazing things with this range. It is just a shame the Polish sprayer never worked and my new Compound sprayer broke the second time I used it.

I do not want to end on a low note so, easy to use, great results quickly or even better results when worked for a long time.

Funny you asked , a malaysian detailer thought about it and gave it a try....you could finish with optimum compound but don't expect perfect result...

Well with the 20% sale, I'll be picking up some of the polishing pads; hopefully there's a free shipping block at some point over the weekend!
