Very cool!
What's the reason behind thickening the foam?
Mark, they run a little cooler and work better on cars with contoured body panels. When used in conjunction with our plates, polishing feels much smoother. It's just something we figured out while testing and we liked it so much that we incorporated it into the polishing pad as well.
When y'all do testing would it be possible to test the longevity of the pads with backing plates other than yalls? Cause I assume y'all want use your backing plate is that correct
Optimum's Backing Plates WILL be your best choice and are competitively priced. The flexible interface foam and recessed velcro edge work perfectly with these pads. We have done extensive tests with these plates.
Testing other backing plates would be more of a job for you guys. We produce the optimum choice and then you can see what you can "get by with" as you experiment in your tasks. If you choose to use other brands, be carefull how strong the hook and loop is and check to see how much heat is transferred to the back center of the pad. I have used them on the Cyclo Backing Plates and on the factory Flex 3401 with NO issues.
Chris, will the cutting pads also be rotary friendly?
Yes, of course!
Nice can't wait! So far I am happy with the early release MF polishing pads that AG sells. Can't wait to have the complete and final set up. I am also glad you did not rush these, I am sure they will be worth the wait!
Thank you! We really don't try to bring any product to market unless we think we have a significant improvement to offer. That's one of the reasons we've never made a paste wax. With this pad system, you can see the evolution of Microfiber Polishing Technology improve...and you know we never stop trying to make our lineup better.
