Optimum MF system almost here!

Very cool!

What's the reason behind thickening the foam?

Mark, they run a little cooler and work better on cars with contoured body panels. When used in conjunction with our plates, polishing feels much smoother. It's just something we figured out while testing and we liked it so much that we incorporated it into the polishing pad as well.

When y'all do testing would it be possible to test the longevity of the pads with backing plates other than yalls? Cause I assume y'all want use your backing plate is that correct

Optimum's Backing Plates WILL be your best choice and are competitively priced. The flexible interface foam and recessed velcro edge work perfectly with these pads. We have done extensive tests with these plates.

Testing other backing plates would be more of a job for you guys. We produce the optimum choice and then you can see what you can "get by with" as you experiment in your tasks. If you choose to use other brands, be carefull how strong the hook and loop is and check to see how much heat is transferred to the back center of the pad. I have used them on the Cyclo Backing Plates and on the factory Flex 3401 with NO issues.

Chris, will the cutting pads also be rotary friendly?

Yes, of course!

Nice can't wait! So far I am happy with the early release MF polishing pads that AG sells. Can't wait to have the complete and final set up. I am also glad you did not rush these, I am sure they will be worth the wait!

Thank you! We really don't try to bring any product to market unless we think we have a significant improvement to offer. That's one of the reasons we've never made a paste wax. With this pad system, you can see the evolution of Microfiber Polishing Technology improve...and you know we never stop trying to make our lineup better.

Everything's looking really good and I'm looking forward to trying more great products from Optimum...

Thanks Chris! :props:

I have opti products and really hope yalls mf pads out last meguirs pads.

Awesome to see this getting close.

I have needed several new pads for a while now, but have postponed it waiting for the release of these. While I know you have to use different pads on different paints, I do plan on getting a process with these for most of mine.

Looking forward to the official release of everything, BP's included.

MF Pad technology works really well on almost all factory finishes. You may have to finish with foam on some soft repaints, but that's only another step on a fraction of vehicles so you can still use the system on just about everthing.

i made my own MF pad out of some of those cheap TW foam bonnets and microfiber bonnets just to see how a mf pad would work. and seems to work great for lots of things, will deffinatly buy the opt pads once the cutting pad comes out thats what ive been waiting for to make a purchase, while i love meguiars products the price point is too high for a couple of pads in my opinion. cant wait for both pads to be released in a set. one question i have is will you sell a kit like meguiars does including everything? also will you be selling a kit consisting of just both the pads themselves? reason why i ask is because i know its cheaper to bundle certain pads in a kit as it uses less packaging materials then individual pads thus transferring the savings to the consumer. another question is has anyone tested this out on the super hard toyota super white II single stage paint system? the paint on my car is so hard i cant get some of the scratches out knowing they can be removed.

It's up to AGO how they bundle our products, but I'm sure if there's a demand they will listen!

I can't comment on the single stage paint, sorry.

Lets get some Chris I need some for the next extreme makeover .

looks like another must-have Optimum product ...

Chris, I read that you tried these on the cyclo backing plates. I have been hoping that someone would make a set of MF pads for the cyclo. I hope to see a set for sale real soon. The cyclo is a great machine and MF pads are the way of the future.

Any timeframe when distributors will receive these?

Have you tried the Meg's on your paint? I know for me on a Tundra I worked on I had to go with OPT Compound II and/or Polish II to get good correction results on Toy's SS white. The Meg's MF knocked down the oxidation I was dealing with but exposed the deeper defects that only compounding can remove. With the OPT MF pads being more durable and capable of being used on a rotary, you may be able to get really good correction with their system over what Meg's is capable of producing.:)

Well if Optimum would get with the program, we could find out how epic it is! :p

Keep on keepin on Optimum, I'll wait as patiently as I can :buffing:

and no shaun i have not used the megs mf system, price point of the pads is too high imo, holding out for the opt pads :) btw 3.25 and 6.25" opt mf pads are currently BOGO on optimum's store

Opie, i cant find the "optimum store"...

And AG has only the opt microfiber POLISHING pads and none of finishing pads vs that of megs.... Or maybe polishing pads can be used on both compound and finishing polish, so i assume the outcome just depends on the rotary/da speed and user's pressure? So the results would be "subjective" based upon the user skill/tools? Im confused, pls correct me CHRIS if im wrong, or anyone knowledgeable, thanks :)

Ponzy, you only see one Optimum MF pad because the second one isn't out yet. Optimum is calling them Cutting/Polishing vs. Meguiar's calling theirs Cutting/Finishing...same idea though. The "Optimum store" is associated with another website and has the first-gen Polishing pads on BOGO (refer to the first page of this thread for the difference).

Setec told you right: the Polishing/Finishing pads were released a couple of months ago. Our Cutting/Compounding pads have not been available yet, but will soon. The one's on sale at the Optimum Forum Store are the in-stock pads we are clearancing in preparation for the updated ones arrival later this month (we hope). The difference between the current offering Polishing/Finishing and the soon to be updated one is shown here:

To clarify, the system will consist of:

Microfiber Polishing Pads (3.25", 4", 5.25", 6.25")
Microfiber Cutting Pads (3.25", 4", 5.25", 6.25")
Rotary Backing Plates (3", 5", 6")
DA Backing Plates (currently only 5", but we're working on a 3" and 4")

When do you expect the DA backing plates to be available?
