Optimum Opti-Seal

Just finished polishing with 106ff and applied one coat of OS. Waited 1 hour, but was too dark to apply second coat. Will QD with FCS today and try Anthony's method on second coat. Will post my results late today.

Why QD??? Just remove surface dust as recommended NO?

QUOTE::
return to the paint about an hour or more later. I fan the portions of the car where I will re-apply another layer of OptiSeal to remove any settled dust and duplicate my application method

My car is parked outside, except during work week when it's garaged. It normally drizzels at night and that's the reason for the FCS. Anyway, I did as Anthony recommended and the results were good. Not amazing, but very good. My arms feel like lead right now. Next time I will try the pc on 3 or 4 with a mf bonnet. I think that the gloss factor was about 10-15%. Not that much, but noticeable. I did the top with 106ff and topped it with SSII. I did 1/2 with OS using Anthony's method and after 2 coats there was a difference. I have a huge tree next to my parking and the reflection is sharper on the OS side. I used OS some months ago and did not notice any difference at the time. However, I did notice that after a day or two the OS seemed much slicker. Because I didn't see any difference in shine I just shelved it until I read Anthony's post. Thought what the heck, I'm going to polish anyway so why not give it a shot. If I didn't like it, I can always apply a nuba over it. I'm glad I tried it. I'll be giving it a coat at a time after a weekly wash.

I'M very close to trying OS again or going for the C.G. JET SEAL 109...

Winter months coming ahead.....Feed back please to O.S or J.S.?????

I've been using Os for couple of months now. Well I don't know how to say this but here goes. Initially when I got it and try it. I too was facing some minor streaks issues but after using it after some time. I don't get streaks any longer.... I do give it a good shake b4 using tho. I've applied it over Collinite 476S and other sealants like M21 and DG105.

I just applied it using the foam it came with the purchased. Maybe it's the new foam that cause uneven application on the paint or so? As after washing the foam pads, it is softer and soak up the OS better than a new foam applicator pad. I also find it easier the apply the OS after this. The new foam pads then to grab the surface too. But nowadays I don't encounter any streaks anymore with my silver, my friend's black Honda City & blue Toyota Wish, my mom's Gold Toyota Innova and my sister's Myvi. I don't spray it onto the paint. I only spray it on the foam applicator pad then apply it onto the paint. No problems at all.

Altho I wish that the OS would be more slicker. :)

I picked it up the first week it was out, by a pre-order. I have been very impressed with this on my Torch Red Cobra. It seems to play well with others, DG 101, 105 and a few others I can't remember at this time. Also, as others have said, it looks even better the next day.

...My arms feel like lead right now...

That still sounds like a major user error. No murder on the dancefloor, or heavy biceps reps, just very light wiping movements. You don't have to work it into the surface a la Finish Kare, just wiping it on lightly but briskly.

TWO initial spritzes on the applicator to cover a fender, then one spray for the subsequent panels. 10-12 sprays should cover a midsize car. It is totally unnecessary to dip the car into a flashflood of OOS.

If the supplied applicator grabs, use a different foam material which won't grab, or switch to a MF applicator. When correctly used OOS will flash off the surface almost immediately so you almost can't see it - just a faint trace of it, but it will disappear in no time.

Within the next few days I'll have a small video up of OptiSeal in use and a few ways it can be applied. I hope this will help people who have questions are having issues with it.

I tried it your way and did not like the final result so I shelved it. I tried Anthony's method and like the end results.

Re OS Streaking/Splotching: I apply it very thinly, usually only to the applicator, not to the surface. I use a Viper/Sonus MF pad.

I wipe it, wipe it, wipe it, not using pressure or exertion. Then gradually use even less and less pressure - even almost lifting the applicator a bit - barely touching the surface so that the air/friction causes it to flash almost fully. Doing this, I get no streaking and just a few or no "spongy" spots... Great results.

I still don't understand where the lead-arms syndrome comes from...

So, where is the video Anthony?

PC + Blue CCS Pad on Speed 2

Two spritz per panel maybe three (hood,roof,etc...)

Let the PC glide over the freshly polished paint and here ya go.
