Pads for general AIO use

Buff & Shine orange and white pads for me with HD Speed gives great results. I have the thin pro's, and many other pads and with the GG6 the B&S flat pads are still my go to pads.

Good to know. Thanks. Yeah, I'd rather forgo some correction and avoid any hazing, as these will be some quick pro bono jobs.
Buff & Shine 5.5" flat pads are the best pads top to bottom of any lineup, IMO. Very durable, work great on a PC style DA and priced very well.

I have yellow, orange, green, white and blue.

All colors finish well on medium-hard paint.

I only use white for 1-steps on soft black paint.

Thanks much, guys. I think I'll give the B&S whites a try. Sounds like they'll be a good fit.

If you don't mind, give us and update after you use the B&S whites with the AIO. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks.

Will do. I'll snap a few photos, too. I took advantage of the Autopia sale and got the pads and some 360, along with some edgeless towels. Can't wait.

Although being firm, the BnS white pad is supposed to finish good on soft black paint.

Just found this in an older thread regarding 360. I had asked about the advice given in the ad copy where it said to not wash the vehicle for a week after application. This was Nick's reply...

"I'm glad you pointed that out. High Def Paint Sealant contains some of the "good stuff" found in McKee's 37 Paint Coating, so it's going to take a full week before it's 100% cured. Can it get wet within that time frame? With exception to the first 6 hours after being applied, the vehicle can absolutely get wet. However, it's not recommended that you wash the vehicle (not that you would need to anyway because nothing sticks to the paint)."

So I have way to many AIO, I sent a sample out last week of McKee's and had 3 AIO jobs this weekend so figured why not use some up while I have it out, first 2 cars I had no issues, a Nissan, Ford and then came the Honda. For whatever reason my boss MF cutting pads paired with the McKee's 360 was hologram heaven. No matter the machine (G21) speed or my arm speed and pressure it left holograms. New pads didn't matter, I've never had this issue with any other AIOs. Has anyone else experienced this with 360 and MF pads?

Did you clean up the holograms with 360 and a different pad? What pad?

I'd like to get 6 dedicated 5.5" pads for quick random McKee's 360 AIO applications that I will do in the next few weeks.

LC thin pro orange or white?
LC CCS white or green?
Griots BOSS yellow or orange?
LC flats?

What would you recommend I choose for the M37 360 on a variety of vehicles (GG6)?

This will just be for spring clean up on daily drivers for friends and fam.

All the above pads will work.

Trying to keep it simple and not aiming for perfection on every one.

And that's the KEY.

KISS = Keep it Simple Simon

Aim for doing high quality work but have BALANCE in your approach. Especially when doing daily drivers for friends, family, co-workers and neighbors.

If after doing a simple one-step correction any of the people you work for get the bug and want to go deeper, then go deeper. Otherwise, they'll be happy with the simple approach and you won't kill yourself or your budget.

Thanks! Is there risk of DA haze/holograms with the Thin Pro orange on some paints?

I like the idea of good durability, considering my intended use. The vehicles I'll be working on are primarily Toyota/Nissan, but also others.

Good questions.

There's a risk of DA Haze with any brand pad once you start to go to sharper foam formulas.

You might not see the DA Haze on light colored cars or even dark and black colored cars until the car is washed a few times, keep that in mind.

If you're using a Griot's, then ultra thin pads are not as huge a factor as this tool has the power to turn and churn even thick pads. I tested this myself on the 1970 Cuda I detailed here,

How to use Griot's Garage to detail your car - A detail job Richard Griot would be proud of!

Was the Honda black? Good luck using a MF pad with *any* polish as a 1-step on soft black paint with no micro-marring. I worked on a 2017 black Honda a couple weeks ago and could not get it to finish "hologram" free. With a fine polish and pad, the micro-marring was faint in the sun, but if you know what you're looking for, you could still see it. Soft black paint is very, very hard to perfect.

yes it was the Honda, it was driving me crazy, I ended up going with a green buff and shine flat pad and the same 360 AIO and it worked out. ive done a few Hondas with AIO and the MF pad with no issues at all.

Is there any reason that LC green pads aren't more popular for general AIO use? Their description says: "Use this foam to apply one-step cleaner waxes. It is a balance of polishing and finishing that is perfect for all-in-one product application". So it would seem that they would be a great choice.

Maybe it's just that people prefer to be able to fine-tune the pad choice for a given car by having both black and white pads on hand? Green is right between these two in terms of aggressiveness.

I already have HD Speed to use on my family's vehicles, just need to figure out dedicated AIO pads.

FYI The Buff & Shine flat pads in white are very nice for AIO use. That's what I went with. Very durable, some nice swirl removal, forgiving, an all around solid choice.

Buff and shine maroon have become my favorite and have used them on all my AIO'S the past few weeks and they are holding up great

I tend to use orange pads for any one step or aio applications. Just regular lc flat cutting lads. Put pressure on the first four passes then slow down the speed and arm pressure on the last two. Works quite well for me.
