I am not doing detailing for a living and it is on my two daily drivers but nonetheless I would be interested in having a paint depth gauge. The prices are a bit steep for the non professional but thought of someone was upgrading their gauge or might have an 'extra' I would be interested in possibly buying it and/or paying for shipping to Oakland, CA.

I am working to improve my skills but would like to know what I my cars have in terms of CC.

Thanks in advance. Hope I am not breaking a forum rule.

I agree I've seen several cheep paint thickness guages on amazon . I've also read some good reviews on some of these units

Thanks. I found some on eBay but am always a little skeptical on the cheapest ones and the next step up was in the $300 plus range. I'll check again. I also have no frame of reference for the brands. I'll check that link. Thanks everyone.

Says backorder not discontinued

My money says it won't be back in stock. "highline" doesn't work anymore in the search box, it's not in the dropdown, if you go through to the "Search by Brand" page, what comes up is not the page I linked.

You can check with AG if they will be getting that Highline II back in stock, ask them for a price match because it's out there.

I have been using the CEM DT 156 for a couple of years now and it works perfectly well for what it is designed to do. Remember it is only a tool to help guide your decisions around how aggressive you want to correct, or spot issues like repaints or excessively thinned out areas....

I never used a paint gauge ever.I think you can get by detailing 2 personal cars, unless you are doing heavey rotary cutting.

Thanks. I only have the GG6" so not taking off a lot but thought I am enjoying this process and just wanted to know where I am at in terms of thickness.

I know the important thing is to take care of the paint so you don't have to do it a lot but I just enjoy the polishing so much. Maybe I should get a demo hood.
