Pan the Organizer product line...let's discuss@

Yeah, yeah, yeah, he is part owner now, not just a brand influencer, but still, I just can't take him seriously

Pronouncements like what you mentioned above simply mean "I don't currently sell this category of product so you don't need it"

Funny thing happened yesterday. I looked him up on YouTube prior to posting because I didn’t want to misspell his name…

After I posted I clicked back on YouTube and it was still on the name results which lead me to a list of videos on my screen and I wound up clicking on one about DIY Quick Beads spray & rinse coating.

I scrolled down to browse through the comments and found this hilarious thread. This appears to be legit the way it went down and I couldn’t help but find it funny. Like really just like that? Wow. Lol.

I know their system uses heavy pads vs heavy compounds, and their machine has a 25mm orbit - which is bonkers. I saw the same clip and he does preface that by saying there is outlying cases for it, but a weekend warrior could probably get away with a normal compound.

But yeah heavy cutters are still definitely needed for some situations.
I about dropped my coffee the first time I saw that 25mm orbit machine

That better be one well balanced machine and you better get the pad dead center

Kind of a leap of faith

Separate him from the product

Believe in the products that actually work and just shine him and his snake oil salesman act on

I guess but I too noticed the hoping around after Optimum and thought he was a huckster, then I gave DIY Detail a try...GREAT products. That said, the screenshot makes me feel dirty for really liking what he's done now and I feel he's got Pan's ear on ALL this, lots of thinking to do over winter

We (certifiable nut job detailers) are sooooo close to the brands, and the people behind the brands, that in some cases it probably isn't realistic to separate the person from the brand

I doubt many of us know or even care who the CEO of Birdseye foods is when we grab a bag of frozen veggies from the cooler

But we KNOW who Yvan, Pan, Brian, etc etc etc are, for better or worse, and so we have to balance the person and the brand and the performance and their reputation, etc etc

Thats a lot of mental gymnastics for some glorified soap and polish

:ROFLMAO:

At the end of the day, if I don't trust someone, I am not going to throw my hard earned dollars their way regardless

None of it is THAT MUCH better to make me compromise my principles and support a jerk

Well, Yvan Lacroix says if I am poor then a simple palm sander will work so who needs a 25mm orbit

Hmmmm, maybe a belt sander....

Yeah, sew up some microfiber belts and tear it up baby

Well, if you can’t handle the awesomeness that is 25mm, perhaps the UDOS “5 Tools In One” will tickle your fancy!

Let me sell a kidney and I’ll get right on that

Yvan has always been more of a salesman to me than pro-detailer. I got the same impression as Klasse did when he left OPT. With that said their products are very good.

I look at DIY the same way I look at Adams. I haven’t met an Adams product that wasn’t good but their durability claims, especially on their ceramics are wishful thinking at best. There’s no way their coatings are lasting 7 and 9 years or their sealants are 9 months when the best in the market will get you 4-6.

I think there is too much marketing in DIY products when they should let them stand on their own merits. Take their coatings, especially their 5 and 8 year offerings. If you listen to them speak about them, the “chemical protection” will last that long but other aspects may diminish long before. As far as I’m concerned, if the beading on a coating is gone, the coating is dead because that is the only way a person can visually confirm that there is still a coating on their vehicle. And the only way Quick Beads will last 12 months is if you clay and polish your car, apply Quick Beads and seal the car in a bubble for 12 months. I’m sure C6 Ceramics is just the same.

I did look into silicone emulsions and in Yvan’s defense they do have several detailing applications. I have no doubt that it offers protection and is right in line with something like Wet Coat or HydrO2. Whether or not it somehow classifies as a ceramic is for a chemist to decide. Yvan and Nick just need to be more honest about what to expect from their products. It’s better to underpromise and overdeliver but I feel that they do the opposite with a few of their offerings.

I spit my water out, LOL.

That UDOS looked so interesting but it’s frick off expensive.

I’d be afraid of knocking a side mirror off getting too close. Heard all their claims about it but man you get that thing wrong and it’s going to buck!

Protection from what exactly?
I know all products aren’t created equal, but the few of these spray & rinse products I’ve tried provided little to no protection from bonded contaminants, which IMO is top priority of any lsp product.

I remember the Sonax in particular went from a perfectly prepped surface to failing a baggy test and pulling up a ton of contaminants on a claybar after just 7-10 days. I posted pics and everything.
Unless there’s 1 that’s somehow worlds different, all these type of products seem like the closest thing to snake oil that’s ever been offered in the detailing world.

In that same comment section, Ivan is asked several times about what’s the point of beading? Is it even protection? He seems to make sure not to say too much.. Smart way to answer, I’m not knocking him, but it seems almost intentional in order to not promise things he might know aren’t true?

I basically use Wet Coat, Quick Beads or the 303 equivalent for my rims and grill area, it makes clean up easier on my cars intricate areas. I usually boost it up about once a month

That’s why I said they need to be more upfront and realistic about their products. On one side I see their mission; making detailing simple for the everyday person that wants to maintain their vehicle so they don’t want to get overly technical. The other side is that there are enthusiasts and professionals that are going to scrutinize everything they say and want more transparency.
