Pan the Organizer product line...let's discuss@

I agree with you for the most part.

What many seem to forget is that for years AG was one of the leaders in bringing in the flavor of the month and charging a premium. I still remember the $100 paste waxes.

But I can say that I am not necessarily planning on being a Thor customer unless they truly bring in or create something unique that I just can’t get anywhere else. There are so many option and places and stock or curate so many product lines.
I recall when Bob McKee purchased Blackfire (with PAC) he said BlackFire Wet Diamonds was under priced (likely compared to the WG line) so prices creeped up but then as now the McKee method is higher list prices but constant promotions (free shipping, high discounts, etc).

I do not pay attention to THOR stuff since I am still working off stuff I have. Enthusiasts will always pay more.

Hmm.. I’ll have to shop around and see if there’s a difference in quality between them. Or maybe wait till they get them right.
I see there is an adjustment knob but the enormous variability in base soap viscosity might me a stumbling block for this design

I can see something like Adams or Hyperwash simply not wanting to mix, especially if the tap water is cold since they are so thick

Gold Class is even worse these days with it's almost jelly like consistency

Buying from McKees can drive you nuts, trying to get everything you need on sale at the same time so you can place one order

Imagine....we can buy this at this price.....these guys are paying 75% less than this with a wholesale/Chinese import license....
It's all the same shit guys....plastic and metal....made here on planet Earth....

Oh, you all didn't know these products are from special rare plastics that just happen to naturally be shaped like foam cannons, rare mineral microfiber found only in all of Asia and rare car care chemicals blended in a basement by the one and only car care chemist in all the world?

I'm glad I snuck into their early heavy sales (30% on everything) days to grab some equipment last year. I keep telling myself those orders were the losses they took to gain their "fame" so I win...

Wait I thought all foam cannons the same… wouldn’t that ring true for these new no dilution ones?

Yeah the Chinese vs Korean micro fiber kills me. They are right next to each other (separated by North Korea)

It’s not about where it’s made. It’s about materials and machines that make them.

That being said…. I bought plenty (3) Amazon foam cannons…. Tried different orifices. With my 1.2 gpm Ryobi I did get better foam out of my MTM.

The majority of this thread, and any discussion regarding these Youtube brands, has focused on white labeling chemical formulations. The funny thing is, THOR actually promotes this on their website.........................

"Shop Stock by Thor Blending – Custom Chemistry Made Easy", "Bespoke Chemical Formulas Tailored to your climate, clientele, and detailing style", "No Copycats Allowed, we don’t replicate, we innovate — with your name on the label".

None of this is new, but I think with THOR, its probably more visible than it ever has been.

What's not been mentioned till this point is the tool and accessory side of the business. And guess what, the same white-label concept happens here too, although in this case its commonly referred to as "contract manufacturing". This happens with a lot of commonly used tools and accessories, and quite often it's a made-in-China copy of an existing product.

One the comes to mind are brushes that look and feel like direct copies of the Detail Factory range. Or foam cannons sold on Amazon, which are made by the same factory with different branding and packaging. So, saying an MJJC works better than a $30 Amazon foam cannon is silly, they are the same thing.

Again, this is nothing new, but its how this factoid is presented to the customer that separates the boys from the men.............................

One approach will involve a brand reaching out to a supplier, get sent a catalog, then order a range of products to be made with their branding printed on the packaging. Then said company will crow on about how good their foam cannon is, or how soft their towels and brushes are...........................................all the while being exactly the same thing their key competitors are selling. This is THOR, Pan, Detail Geek...................

Then there are those who acknowledge who makes their products, or don't make bold claims about them. Or, you have someone like Larry Kosilla who will work with a known brand such to create an AMMO specific version, he can then genuinely promote it as something unique and different. He does this with brushes (Braun), and co-branded pressure washers (AR Blue), pump sprayers (iK) and inspection lights (Scangrip).

Exactly. All foam cannons are the same. There’s no breakthrough technology to be had in any of them. The only tweak I think that’s remotely possible is in the foam mesh screen filter, and how fancy can that really be from the next?

If anything, I’m sort of interested in getting one of these new ones that does away with the large bottle = no diluting needed. Just add straight car soap and it automatically meters out the foam. Have any of you guys tried these yet?

They can be had for as little as $20 bucks.

I'd be looking at the Griot's Boss Foam Cannon if you want to go the metering tip route.

These can be used with or without the metering tips, with or without the supplied cannister. In that I mean the cap can be screwed directly onto a bottle of soap and the metering tip will dilute at the correct ratio. Which tip you use will depend on the output of your pressure washer and thickness of the soap, so you would have to play around to find the right tip for your setup. But from then on, you eliminate measuring out and filling up foam cannon bottles. Plug and play.

These images are from a mate in Sydney who picked one up while working in the USA.

The cannon is supplied with various metering tips, which slot into the weighted ball filter. You can then play around to find the right one to work with your machine and soap.

The only thing I would say with the metering tip route, I do wonder if thicker soaps will work this way. I've seen where a particularly thick and sticky soap struggled to be pumped out of the cannister, I say this because I know you have a preference for Hyper Wash and Gold Class. This would apply to any of this style of foam cannon with a metering function.

There's one in the mix I'm watching a bit to see if they get deeper into this but so far they've kept their distance. They started direct B2C sales recently (past 2yrs maybe?) and I've got their 9h and 7h coatings stacked on a car right now commuting highways for 8hrs a week... that coating is stout.

I think they just did the B2C sales and stayed away from all this other junk so I hope they continue that but I'm watching across social media to see if they ever jump back into this scene or keep doing their own thing. The products are solid so I hope they steer clear of aligning to anyone.

Or I'm completely wrong and they're behind all of it

It’s funny you say that, because I almost ended up with a Griots Boss foam cannon thanks to DJ Khaled, he said he was going to send it to me for free because he said he didn’t like it… But then he went back on his word and ignored me after he told me to check back with him in 3 weeks so he could finish filming the rest of his content with it.

I’m actually more interested in minimizing the size of the foam cannon than the metering tip aspect of it. If I could make the whole thing smaller to wield around, that would be the biggest win for me.

You left out his Ammo Rupes polisher.

Definitely some merit to this point. Have had foam cannons ranging from the $10 Amazon no-name, through Dusichin, MJJC & MTM. At first they all shot relatively the same foam but as time wore on, leaks developed, overall performance degraded and season-ending disassembly/cleaning became differentiators in the performance/rehab area with the MTM standing up better to the use (and abuse) over time. The MTM soldiered on when the others started to drop off in irritating ways.

I have also used the new-ish Active unit a few times lately and I quite like it; just has an overall more solid ‘feel’ than even the MTM but not enough to retire the MTM. If I were to accidentally run over the MTM and destroy it though…

This is the stuff rubbing me the wrong way with them now. After a sort of come to Jesus week with their drama and their videos released trying to save face, they turn their wholesale reps loose. Feels just shady and lazy.

Nothing hard about using the interwebs and doing your job... reminds me of the Billy Madison scene:

I just read the post. Don't know the OP or any details of a THOR wholesaler. I would assume though he's focused on THOR's brand Detail Co. My guess though is any brand in that circle-jerk is going to come as a package deal.

What I don't like is the laziness here. Spot on with their stolen RAG name for SEO optimization. Sounds more and more like s lazy bunch... this guy would prefer you do his job for him. I'm not sure if they're trying harder to add transparency and failing lately or just trying to keep the show running for $1 longer.

I've been running undiluted Brake Buster through an MTM for several years now. I fully expected to be replacing internal components along the way as Brake Buster is incredibly harsh on sprayers. To this day, I have not had to do a single thing to that MTM foam cannon, actually the same applies to my usual soap foam cannon as well. Both have been nothing but reliable.
