Anyone here like Peet's Coffee?

About a year ago I was asked to buff out 1938 Packard Model 1603 in Palm Springs, California and while I was there the owner asked if I would like a cup of coffee? Since it was early in the morning and cold out in his garage I thought that sounded good so I said, "yes".

In a few minutes he brought me a cup of what I thought was some of the best coffee I had ever had, it was Peet's Mocha Java. When I returned to Florida I discovered our local Publix grocery store chain carried it so I switched over. This is a new one to me, but pretty good on a cold Florida morning...

And since this is a detailing discussion forum, here's the car I detailed on that trip...

1938 Packard Model 1603

Before - Paint was mottled from protective film wrap during shipping

After
I used a combination of hand polishing and machine polishing to undo the damage and restore a finish worthy of the car. Parts of the car were antique single stage lacquer and parts of the car were re-sprayed using a basecoat/clearcoat system. The goal was to undo the damage and maximize the clarity and gloss of the single stage antique lacquer paint to match the new basecoat/clearcoat paint for a uniform appearance to the entire car.

So do you like Peet's? Or something else?

:)

I was at Peet's yesterday in Pasadena. Gret coffee!! You drink it "black"?

I've never had the coffee but I'll look for it.

I'm a Starbucks fan and make a pot every morning. I don't frequent the Starbucks shop, there's no way I'm paying $4.00+ for a cup of fancy-dancy yuppie coffee!

Coffee with both flavor & HP!! :props:

Superb job on that 1938 Packard Model 1603! :props:

If it doesn't look wet then it wasn't done right! :dblthumb2:

Picking up some Peet's on my next trip to Publix. I love a good cup of coffee.... take it hot strong and bitter, like my women!

my wife is gonna kill me

Hey, that Packard is a fantastic car!

I am a Folger's guy myself but am not opposed to trying different types.

Peet's coffee isn't the kind that is derived from the poop of that monkey in the jungle is it? You know, the monkey eats a coffee bean and guys follow it around to collect the bean when it comes out. The stomach enzymes are supposed to make it taste "heavenly".

HAHA, like from the Bucket List?

I'm personally a Dunkin Dounuts guy. I do like a good Starbucks espresso every now and then. But honestly I don't make the coffee or do the grocery shopping at my house so I'm drinking whatever my gf decides to buy and make. Right now I think it's Maxwell House. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Peet's though.

Never heard of Peets....My brand is Ugly Mug.......Aout 6-8 cups a day......This may explain some of hyperactivity.....I should really consider de-caf :buffing:

Love Eight O Clock coffee, Colombian blend. I've yet to drink anything store-bought that tastes better.

I have never had the Peet's coffee as it is not available here. Best stuff I've had to date is "Just Coffee" brand. 100% organic and fair trade.

While we're on the subject. . . it's a jungle cat. But still just as gross.

Nice job on the car as usual, Mike!

I don't drink coffee, a tea guy. But I like that 1938, any more pics?

Starbucks Komodo Dragon is very good, strong. I first bought it because it sounded cool, but now I'm hooked. I will try Peet's where can you buy it?

I love Baby's Coffee located in the Keys (Hazelnut Supreme & Vanilla Vanilla Nut). To me it's worth having it shipped for a cup of joe.
Baby's Coffee
Stopped by Babys earlier this year (July) on my way down to Key West for a fresh cup and man was I in heaven.

I first heard of Peets just a few months ago when I started working at my new location. I like the bold rich flavor. I found myself drinking about 2 cups a day. Then it started giving me stomach problems. I now only have one about every other day and if i must have a 2nd cup I mix it with the Gevallia blend they brew here.

For you MD guys. Try Cafe Pronto in Annapolis. They roast the beans in-house. Smells amazing in there and the coffee's flavor is perfection.

Starbucks Komodo Dragon, Christmas and Ethiopian blend are good drips. The Cinnamon Dolce w extra shot is a good espresso drink.

:p I'm a bit of a coffee guy..

There's an Italian cafe in Boca Raton that I used to live near (walked to it almost every day). Best coffee and cappuccino I've had. Food was pretty good too...it's called Saquella in case anyone is wondering. I'll have to check out that place in the Keys next time I'm down there.

Jay that is why I love you!!!:dblthumb2:

As for Peet's and really this can be said of any coffee Mike makes.... ITS STRONG!!!!
When Mike is making the coffee I either mix it with half water or drink an energy drink instead. Mike likes his coffee to be strong and like mud and eats the hotest peppers I have ever seen.
I believe you have an iron stomach Mike! :p

I like Coffees of Hawaii. Had it on the Big Island, brought a ton home.

I didn't start drinking coffee till I worked as a Rough Neck on an Oil Drilling Rig in the Mist Mountain Range of Astoria, Oregon. It was Christmas time, I was the Towerman, looking down on top of Douglas Fir Trees in the snow. Any chance I got to go into the Coffee Shack I took and that's were I learned to appreciate Hot Coffee...

On the Drill site there wasn't any Foo Foo extras so you get your coffee black and strong or nothing at all. Guess that's where I learned to drink my coffee black.

That was one of many cars I've buffed out that I never did a proper write-up on for the project itself. I have all the pictures so I still can do a write-up but processing pictures and creating the thread is always a time issue and so far it hasn't made it to the "A List".

I did use it to answer the age old question of

What's the shelf life of Meguiar's products...

MGH-4 Hand Cleaner - Still Good After All These Years!

There's a few more pictures in that thread plus some pictures of probably the rarest things in my antique wax collection, my antique Meguiar's glasses.

Back during this buff-out I also took and used all the Lab Samples for what was later introduced as,

  • M205
  • Ultimate Compound
  • SwirlX
  • ScratchX (New SMAT version)

NewAndOldTechnology01.jpg

I used the antique products on the antique paint and the modern formulations on the basecoat/clearcoat paint.

Process worked out well and the finish turned out just like the owner hoped...

:)

Very cool, love the antique pics here and other posts. Thanks!
