Perfectly Safe Brush

I saw someone picking up the foam off the ground with the brush so they didn't have to put another dollar in, and it was a brand new black Mazda, I could tell because it only had the dealer temp plate hanging on the back.
I always wonder, do they not know, do they not care?

What is the reason for behavior like that

So, to carry this discussion even further, how many of you use the car window scrubber/squeegee at the filling station, especially in the winter

Most of the reservoirs around here look like a mud puddle and the scrubber part looks like a rat chewed on it

Yvan... The day i finally knew this guy was a grifter was when he looked into the camera with a straight face and said ceramic coatings can last the lifetime of a car.

Knowing that he never actually made my gallon of DIY rinseless is the only reason i never threw it down the drain. I have about a liter left. :D

I don’t use them much these days because my windows are usually clean, but many years back before I finally learned how to clean my glass perfectly I used to get my best results by using the squeegees at the Shell gas station. They worked so well that I went and bought a Mallory [that’s the brand they have at Shell] squeegee of my own to use at home.

They still do a good job in a pinch if I happen to find myself with super dirty glass while at the gas station, which is rare. They’re not perfect though because you usually wind up with a couple of drips of water but otherwise clean streak free glass.

I have one of these Mothers brushes with flagged fibers. They have been selling this for as long as I can remember. It is listed as a wheel and fender brush but too soft and too big to me for that purpose. I have tried all sorts of brushes but always end up using microfiber on wheel faces and a Daytona brush for barrels.

Small correction: It’s a wheel & fender well brush aka wheel well brush, not a fender brush. By calling it a fender brush it sounds like it’s meant to be used on paint, which we all know that’s not the case.

I have both of these brushes and have been happy with them for years.

Works for me. It's glass.

Not a fan of windshield "protection" either. I think it actually makes the window MORE prone to dirt. Maybe they work fine if your cleaning your car at a minimum every 2 weeks. But no one does that where i'm from.

I occasionally used them when I was on long journeys, but then I started carrying my own. I almost got into a fight once when someone tried to take it when I was done, they didn't believe I carried my own, even though the filling station one was still in the slop bucket.

Before the municipality put lights along the highway all the way to the borough border we had to carry a spray bottle of winter windshield fluid and a roll of disposable shop towels and stop once or twice on the 30 miles home during the winter when it got sloppy and warm because the dirt they spread on the highway turned to mud and got sprayed on the car and made the headlights unusable.

Very few cars had headlight cleaning sprayers back then

I got banned on the comments section from Pan the paid for reviews,

I can understand a wash mitt on a stick but come on......

It will be interesting to see if Pan either reviews the brush or comes out with his own CLEAN brush. As usual, THOR is pushing videos by other YT wanna be influencers jumping on the bandwagon to promote the brush. It is called another game changer.

"...................DIY have brought you something totally new..............."

Oh for fu.ks sake, its a freaking brush! What is totally new about a brush? Nor is it the first brush to used this way.

".............this brush makes detailing simpler and more effective".

If the goal is to clean a car, then yeah, no doubt this brush will make cleaning easier and more effective. But I'm sorry, but there is no way this a "perfectly safe" way of cleaning a car. Effective? Sure. Safe? No way in hell.

I get the feeling the whole Thor thing is about creating controversy, in turn creating more views, in turn boosting Youtube revenue, in turn boosting sales of the stuff they really want to sell (coatings, soaps, detail sprays).

If you look at the video's comments (and believe the posts are real), they have convinced a lot of people to purchase the brush and now sold out. There is need by enthusiasts with money to burn (nothing wrong with that) to try something new. That is how marketing works so a constant release of something different.

That's funny!

IIRC Autogeek used to carry a full line of boar's hair brushes, I can't remember the brand, maybe they still do, I haven't checked

It's the American way! Well, at least the YouTube way.

Damn near every one of the Thor or DIY associated video thumbnails has the presenter with an astounded look on their face and an inflammatory tagline

Textbook definition of clickbait and I for one refuse to even give them a click, much less watch the video

I watched part of 2 videos from the presenter above quite a while back and they couldn't be more contrived if Hollywood produced them

They still sell Montana boar's hair brushes

DIY completely ripped off the shape of this one for their new wonder brush1755013568114.png
